CUCV-II from Des Moine IA to OKC

I'm helping a friend recover a 1031 from Sparta, WI (hopefully next week). I guess we could have tied your's on the back like a caboose. F250, tow bar, 1031, tow bar, CUCV II, little red flag to warn everyone we're really unstable (not the trucks just the drivers).

New Braunfels, TX Military Vehicle club?

Welcome! I live about 20 miles due north of Ft Sam. If you're planning on buying a house in town my wife is a military specialist loan officer (meaning she specializes in service members, VA, etc and knows the ins/outs of PCSs and such) and she's a board member of Operation Homefront/TX. We...

You're always welcome. Let me know if there's something specific you need a hand with. I'm usually available any time (including during the week).

New Braunfels, TX Military Vehicle club?

You're more than welcome to come over to my place any day of the week to work:whistle: I'm only 30 miles west of you and wouldn't mind getting together but with diesel still over $3.50/gal even 30 miles is too much for me once a week.

New Braunfels, TX Military Vehicle club?

The Lone Star MVPA (based out of Camp Mabry in Austin) only meets once per MONTH. The next meeting is Wed Jun 20 at 7pm at the museum. The other option is the Alamo MVPA that hasn't had a regularly scheduled meeting since 2010 but still gets together for events.

    Working on the MKT

Well that was quick and painless. Posted the classified yesterday and sold it today. It went to a member of our MVPA club and another SSr. I'll let him make the announcement if he chooses. Thanks again for everyone's help with this project. It was fun but time to get back to the wife's M37...

    Working on the MKT

Yeh I've done the "ring-around-the-MKT" a couple times myself. Crank one side. Lock it. Go around to the other side and crank. Lock it. Repeat as needed. One last story of the MKT adventure. Last Friday night after we had everything cleaned up after dinner and sacked out we got a nasty...

    Working on the MKT

I have to say last weekend Keith_J and TexAndy were a tremendous help. The deuce and trailer wouldn't have made it home if Keith_J didn't volunteer to drive and he did most of the cleaning all weekend. Our MVPA club is good about covering the food costs and I tell everyone else that I don't...

    Working on the MKT

Thanks John. It's been fun but it really is tough when there's just 1 or 2 people running things. Everyone wants to see it at events and partake of the food but when it comes to clean up or stowage seems like they all disappear.

    Working on the MKT

After our event at the Central TX Airshow this last weekend I've come to the conclusion that I can't handle the trailer by myself and can't rely on the generosity of others to help me with it (although many did provide support it may not always be there in the future). For that reason I've put...

    OKC to Temple TX Airshow

And I thought a 4 hour return trip was pushing it. I hit the rack at 1430 (after a good dose of missed meds from the night before). Woke up at 1830 for 2 hours and then back to bed at 2030. I was almost human by 0730 Monday but still sat on my duff the entire day. Sorry to here about all the...

    M1009 no low beams!

Not anymore. I'm sure we traded and I'm sending a truck to pick up my new V100.

What generator? And who are you again? Oh, and I like your whistling dog.

    M1009 no low beams!

It's a good thing other people remember things that happen to me since I can't seem to (at least until you mentioned it). Rory had to remind me he had TWO of my old 1009s cause I only remembered one and then he had to point out which one he got first. I still can't remember if it was a loose...

    M1009 no low beams!

    Working on the MKT

Finally got recovered a little bit from the weekend. When we buttoned up the trailer yesterday afternoon it was 93F. I asked around if anyone wanted to buy a "frickin, frackin (insert appropriate swear words here) MKT" but got no takers so I guess I'll keep it. Keith_J and TexAndy helped out...

    M1009 no low beams!

It was a little hot for the high beams this weekend. Well, I guess it did cool down in the evening. Maybe the heat was what caused the difficulties in the 1028 too :)

    Working on the MKT

Didn't take any pics of the baking last night as it was full dark by the time we started. Hardest part was keeping the temp even. I have a BBQ temp gauge and we needed to keep adjusting the burners to stay around where they needed to be.

    Working on the MKT

Made it. Just finished cooking the jambalaya. Very well recieved and finally tried some baking. Biscuits and chocolate chip cookies.
