    Working on the M37

Brakes are done except for adapting a filter on master cylinder. Put in a couple of new batteries. Fuel filler neck and inside bed cover for same installed. Right windshield and passenger seat back in. Last but not least was the heater installation with new hoses. It works on low speed but...

    Brake drum removal, m37

We're replacing the rear wheel cylinders today on mine. Once you get those slotted screws out I recommend replacing them with recessed hex heads. I can't tell you how much easier it is taking them off with an allen wrench versus a flat screw driver. It may not be stock but makes life more...

Behr Paint Jobs- Show me your MV's

It went over a combination of grey primer and old paint. Everything was prepped with a DA down to 120 grit. Several coats and they were applied with a hvlp gun. I'm planning on putting one final coat on once everything is back together to make sure there's an even appearance and to catch any...

Behr Paint Jobs- Show me your MV's

Well here's my IDF M37 painted in Behr Sinai Grey. I have to say I'm not too impressed with the durability. The main body was painted back in Aug and you can sneeze on it and scratch it. If it doesn't cure any harder than this I'm going to have to find an alternate paint to try and put over...

    Working on the M37

Things moved along again today. Keith got the last 2 tires mounted on the rims while I added the pioneer rack (thanks M813rc) and tore the old driver's seat apart and transferred everything to the new shell the installed the freshly painted troop seat hardware. Tomorrow we'll get the rear...

    New V-100

Rory, Sorry about your FIL but thankful for other things. The first post I read was from Danger Ranger about talking to David and I thought the worst. Prayers out for the entire family. MC

    Working on the M37

Thanks for the pics. My question would be what's the difference in the C channel between the truck and trailer. It appears from the pictures that the trailer might be 1 3/4" while the truck is almost 2"? Since we're not doing the top the bows and corners aren't a concern.

    Working on the M37

I have no problem with criticism, especially if it saves me from work, so no offense was taken (the bugger off comment was for people at shows and parades that think they're the smartest people in the room because they saw a picture of a truck somewhere so know exactly how it should be). And not...

    Working on the M37

We're just looking at the channel that forms the stake and then will fab the actual brackets. It may not be the same on an original 101 but on the M101A1 sitting in my driveway the channel, including the cut-in to stop the upright, is exactly like the piece that I took apart to get the seat stop...

    Working on the M37

Cleaned the troop seat hardware up a little bit yesterday and then shot it with a good dose of Kroil to loosen them up. At that point I had to install them just to see how they looked and worked - perfect. Today keith_j cleaned them up with a braided wire wheel and shot on a coat of primer...

    Finally some progress!

Man that looks nice. I feel like a Jr High shop class working on mine now.

    Working on the M37

Picked up a rust (through) free driver's seat today and a set of hinges for the troop seats. Getting close to having all the parts together and just needing to clean a few up and paint. All the wheels have been stripped and primed, 2 painted and on the truck, so that part is about over as...

    Working on the M37

Still plodding along. Little pieces are going back on a few at a time. Tried to order a tool box latch (the part inside the tool box) from Vintage Powerwagons but they didn't have one. Lucky because I found one in a box of bolts about 20 minutes later. Last of the major parts besides the...

    Working on the M37

Inching along with some more painting and reinstallation of parts. Pics: 1) marker and tail lights just painted 2) one of the spare tire (we're not dismounting this one as it's the original Israeli tire) 3) Hebrew marking on the spare 4) Headlight buckets back on Took one of the front tires...

    Working on the M37

I've been working on vehicles since I got my first pickup (1952 Chevy) when I was 14 (1978 ) and I can honestly say I really wish I had started with MVs back then. Painting parts on the floor of the shop and then just bolting them on 1/2 hour later sure beats the heck out "sand, sand, more sand...

    Working on the M37

Another couple of milestones. Doors are back on and the bed is back together (if not completely bolted all the way around). The only big pieces left to install are the tailgate and (not really big) the headlamps and lamp grilles. Tailgate is painted and just needs bolted on but there are all...

    M37 Door Alignment

So we're finally putting the IDF M37 back together after painting. Ran in to a problem with the hood alignment that required a bit of trimming of the cowl end corners and tweakig the back but good enough for what was needed in clearance. Now we've run in to a problem with the door alignment...

M1009 aka RED project under way

Sorry I missed the start of this but I've caught up now. Man I'm glad you wound up with that instead of me trying to figure it out. I probably would have crushed it by now. I've got a 16 y.o. friend looking for a 1009 at the moment. He keeps wanting me to drive 350 miles (one way) to look...

    Working on the M37

I'm looking for a driver's seat if anyone has a spare. The one with this truck is barely holding on to the bottom due to rust through. I'd try Midwest but don't think I can afford one of their's.

    Working on the M37

The goal is to have it done by the picnic and bring it then. I really need to find a trailer since I don't think I want to drive it between here and Austin.
