I went ahead and sold it. There were 2 other guys in line behind me so I just got in touch with the next one down the line and let him have it for what I paid. He actually wants it for parts for his real M151.
It's going to take a substantial amount of time and money to get this on the road. I'd rather that expense went to a real piece of history rather than a knockoff.
Picked up my latest project last night. I'm hoping some of the more knowledgable folks can help me ID it. There are no data plates and not holes in the dash or windshield frame where data plates would have been riveted. The motor has a plate but it puts it as a 1971 and I believe the vehicle...
Looks amazing! We're going to try and get Timbo's interior prepped and painted this week. He gets his license in 2 weeks and it's driving him crazy not seeing any real progress.
Not planning on the Rally as I really don't want to drive my deuce all the way to College Station and back but I will be making an appearance at the Swap Meet just to look around. If anyone is needing a cab panel let me know and I can throw a few in the back of the pickup. If you're in the...
Congrats on the new purchase!
The Alamo MVPA is pretty much defunct now. A few members have rolled up in to the Lone Star Chapter but do events in San Antonio (which you're always welcome to but the meetings are in Austin). I'll try to post here if there is anything scheduled locally.
Hope you at least got a salesman's sample model for all the effort. They'd probably need a few more minutes worth of video to give you a full size replica.
Your insurance company is only concerned about 2 specific things (and don't take an agent's word on it talk to a claims adjuster):
1) Does the vehicle meet the definition of an "insured vehicle." This means does it qualify for the policy and/or is it the vehicle listed on the policy. If you...
No we used 2x8s for all but the center and then a 2x10 down the middle. I unfortunately timed it just right to do it the week Home Depot stopped carrying 20' 2x10s so there is a section at the front that is short by 2'. I covered it temporarily with a piece of plywood until I can rip 2 small...
Last Monday was the inaugural event for the M37. Keith and I did a static display for Birdies For The Brave at the TPC Golf Course. It was nice that the first event was for Veterans and as it turns out so will the 2nd.
Tomorrow we'll be participating in the Veteran's Day Parade with the...
So if you're not going for an award winning restoration the Greek harness is the way to go.
Making your own harness is certainly an option but the time you'd spend doing it is worth more than the cost of buying one already finished.
The M1009 -10 says that you shouldn't tow anything bigger than the M416 but they're assuming you're going off road. I towed my MEP003A on a M116 from Ft Bliss to San Antonio with a M1009 doing 60mph without any problem. The surge brakes definately helped.
Sid is where I got mine also. He was a great guy to deal with and had tons of stuff and knowledge. It was interesting to walk through the 4 rail cars he had at his place and just look at all of his inventory. I'm glad I got the chance to meet him in person.
