    Working on the M37

More progress. Front fenders back together and mounted as well as the bed floor. We've got the side panels painted and ready to reinstall just need to get some more bolts to fasten it all back together. I got all new floor bolts but forgot to get new nuts so need to pick some of those up as...

    Working on the M37

Well the "next couple of days" turned in to the "next couple of months." With the blood, sweat, (but no tears that I know of) supplied by keith_j we made some progress on the truck this week. We finally got the viscosity of the Behr paint mixed right and was able to lay down some newly mixed...

    South West Florida Members

I went to elementary school and Jr High in Pt Charlotte and 1/2 year of HS at CHS in Punta Gorda before my parents dragged me kicking and screaming to Idaho. We used to have 65 acres just east of Punta Gorda that would have made for some nice (if short) trail rides. Of course where they moved...

They didn't use the pink primer.

Bringing the M1031 into 21st century...backup cam and cupholders

Sometimes you get a really big one though that'd just get stuck in the brush guard. Like a Michael Moore or Rosie O'Donnel type and you have to back up quickly (hence the camera) and you don't want it damaged while you're getting away.

Bringing the M1031 into 21st century...backup cam and cupholders

Well I'd be more concerned about dropping a wrench or something on it. Zombies are squishy so shouldn't do a lot of damage. (Waiting for the DH Zombie zot)

Bringing the M1031 into 21st century...backup cam and cupholders

How about welding a piece of pipe over the cam just to give it a little added protection?

Dumpster truck backed into my M1009!

Typically the police will not come out to a vehicle accident on private property unless there is an injury involved (same with an attorney since there is no big payout like there might be with an injury claim). Everything here seems to be going towards a positive conclusion. If Pawnshop wanted...

Dumpster truck backed into my M1009!

They're probably betting you won't get it repaired so offer "repairs only." Make sure you let them know you need an appropriate rental not just the cheapest thing Enterprise has. While they may not go with a "comparable vehicle" they still need to take in to consideration your comfort as a driver.

Will this Harmonic balancer Work on my m1008 From napa

I was working on my '57 Ford and went to NAPA asking for points and a condenser. The kid tried to give an a/c condensor (which I'm pretty sure no '57 F100 came with stock). I realized that he was probably born after the last points equiped vehicle rolled out of Detroit.

Dumpster truck backed into my M1009!

Sorry but that is an incorrect statement. Comp is for "non-collision" damages. This was a collision even though he was parked at the time another vehicle "collided" with his vehicle. Another example is if you're driving down the road and hit a large rock. If the rock was stationary in the road...

CUCV-II from Des Moine IA to OKC

We just got back from Sparta, WI with keith_j's new M1031 SECM. 2500+ miles in 3 days for a truck that's not my own. Radiator in my F250 decided to find a new vent hole coming through Kansas yesteday while it was 118 degrees outside. We left the cap loose on the expansion tank so it wouldn't...

Cheer up. It was only 105 here today so it'll feel almost like fall when you get here. Good luck and look forward to your arrival.

    M113s and Variants in Vietnam

We got a little off track of the OPs original post but one final item on Yakima - the July issue of Popular Mechanics follows a group of SF guys testing out vehicles in Yakima. Not a lot of pictures but the ones that are there bring back memories. Not warm and fuzzy ones but memories...

    M113s and Variants in Vietnam

I missed you by a couple of years ('82-86, '89-92). I got to see a couple of F14s out of Whidby Island take out a tent for some NG Col's birthday party. They were flying nap of the earth and came up over the hill where the tent and cake were. Sucked it right up over about 50 people. That was...

    M113s and Variants in Vietnam

There was one lone hill called Squaw's Tit. Not sure about a tank trail on it though. It was off limits when I was there. Every time I changed components (Guard, Active, Guard, civilian) I told myself "at least I'll never have to see Yakima again" and I kept winding up back there. When I...

    M113s and Variants in Vietnam

Well believe it or not I was at the Yakima Training Center (used to called Yakima Firing Center). First with the WA National Guard (where I learned to drive the 113) then with the 9th ID out of Ft. Lewis, then again with the WA Guard where I was a M1 gunner and THEN the company I worked for...

    M113s and Variants in Vietnam

The first thing I learned to drive in the Army was a 113. They were great fun until you were sitting out at NTC, -10, and no frigging heater.
