Keyed replacement for start or battery switch?

My M927 is parked near my warehouse on a lot that is not fenced. I would like to install some sort of a key based control that prevents unauthorized use. Would anyone suggest 1) What control is best replaced (battery or start/stop) 2) What keyed control is most recommended thanks

    M939/A1/A2 ABS vs. Non-ABS Trucks

OK, suppose that I have a truck without ABS, and I need to perform a "panic stop", which is of course something to be avoided. Would it be true to say that if, when I start stopping, I flip my transmission into Neutral, then I can panic stop and the engine will never lock up, so I do not lose...

Parting out military trucks for fun and profit?

It is probably because, as another poster alluded here, the market is saturated with good trucks. vERY good food for thought guys. Thanks. I will try to make sure that scrap covers my entire cost right away and will stay away from bulky items (beds and cabs)

Parting out military trucks for fun and profit?

Great point about cheap buyers and sitting on stuff! Ack! As for shipping, it is easy, I ship things by truck daily.

Parting out military trucks for fun and profit?

I get $260 per ton for my HMS steel scrap such as heavy trucks. Comparable amount for all used oil in them. An M927, for example, weighs about 24300 lbs. Say 23000 without tires. Good 11R20 tires sell for $150 each easily. So we get 10*150+23000/2000*260=4,490. Taking it apart further, there...

Parting out military trucks for fun and profit?

As I mentioned earlier, I "buy and sell" industrial equipment. A few times, I came across a few civilian trucks that were not usable for various reasons, but had various usable parts, like engines, stainless salt spreaders, tires, hoods, and what not. I bought and parted them out and it was...

    No turn signals on M927

I spent some more time with my M927 today, inflated tires a bit more, put cold galvanizing paint on areas that were scratched by chains during transport, practiced driving and tight turns etc. I was happy to find that 1) it has a normal height bed, just like my GMC dump truck and other...

How do I know if my M927 was rebuilt

I bought my M927 truck described as "missing information plate". http://www.govliquidation.com/auction/view?auctionId=6298764 I picked it up and want to know a bit more. How do I know, maybe by inspecting certain components or telltale parts, if the truck was "rebuilt" or just not used too...

Recovered my M927 truck; batteries dead

OK, this is great to know, I am tremendously relieved. This truck is a great testament to American industry. I started drinking already after returning home. I will need to find some way to incorporate a key into the starting system, as my truck is parked in open parking lot near my warehouse.

Recovered my M927 truck; batteries dead

Guys, thanks. I was able to figure it out, the battery compartment had four batteries, but only two batteries were connected. One of them was weak. I swapped it with another, unused one and everything is great now, it starts easily. I drove the truck off my lowboy already. In the excitement, I...

Recovered my M927 truck; batteries dead

I picked up my M927 truck with my lowboy trailer and my driver. See attached picture. The truck was jump started prior to my arrival and loading was very easy, I just drove it on my beavertail trailer. Thanks to Indianapolis TruckCenter. The good news is that the truck looked new and ran well...
