I have said it before your work equals or exceeds the depot rebuilts that the Army pays big bucks for. I am very glad to see one of these great trucks here on the site. Your five ton rocked too is the guy that bought it keeping it in great shape and is he a member here?
I hope you...
Very nice truck and you should not have a problem with that light switch the early ones were first put in HMMWV's and they had a problem with getting a good ground to the switch with all the aluminum and fiberglas. I have had one in my deuce for years and I really like it. That should be a...
I will unfortunately not be able to go but it is a great place to go to Maddawg will not get in trouble for climbing up any of the many piles of mine tellings. I really like the way they run the place and we have blown the spider gears out of my Son's 99 TJ on one trip and the trail guide had a...
Wow great save it looks to be in very good condition for it's age. The gas engine is a great one as mentioned earlier and how cool is an automatic duece.
I know the tires look bad but running them without load they would probably get you home. Don't air them all the way up put 50 PSI in them...
RE: Lane
Wow great find and way to go it won't be long I bet till it is out hauling in syrup.
Thanks again for your kindness in thinking of me and my friends in Korea all of us loved it.
I know this may have come up before but where can I get a replacement elbow for the truck? I have not had it long enough to decide if I can just weld in a patch or should try to replace it due to a rusted hole in the bend of the pipe.
I also need to fix the alternator since it did not charge...
That is a typical FOB Rocket. When I was in Iraq there were many dueces and five tons running around being used by indiviual Soldiers as their personal ride on the FOB since they could not be taken off the FOB due to no armor. It is strange that it was still there as KBR has been working with...
All this is saying know your equipment! That is why if you are not licenced on a piece of equipment you can not operate it. I know the winch is a lot different from the electic ones we grew up with on Jeeps. The Army depends on winchs to keep us mobile and these are good winches if you use...
RE: MRAP
Thanks for posting them just remember DOD says do not post any battle damage photos on the web. Don't forget these babies cost a million bucks a pop.
Great story and happy you got er home OK she is a runner and like most of our deuces will do most anything we ask em to do. I love my duece too and it is hard being so far away from it and not getting to drive it around. Have fun with it and thanks for posting the pictures.
You all should join the Army Transportation Corps because part of the initial training is a vehicle recovery lesson hands on in the mud. The winch is designed to be operated by the driver and assistant driver as well as getting help from the stuckee.
I am surprized the tailgate did not fold...
Why not drive it home it would only eat a lot of diesel. Nice truck and if you tow the remove and hang rear shaft is right on the money.
If you drive or tow remove the crew covering canvas or you will eat more fuel or rip it to shreads.
I have a PTO, controls, the pioneer tool rack that I have to get to Newt in NJ sitting at my house in Maryland. It would require my son to round them up and link up with you can you PM me time and date info? I would love to get these to him my son took them out of the cab when he dropped the...
It is just plain irresponsible the way they do that. I know that the way some of the MHE operation I have seen made me question if they were even licenced on the equipment. I had them break the brake lines on my M101 trailer by similar just do it mind set when a simple move of one other...
Or you could buy land in Texas that has mineral rights and a gas well that would power everything. We had a gas electric refrigerator on our farm because the power went out so often. I for one think we should mine more coal clean it up and build more nukes. Electricity is the energy of the...
