Is there primer left, or did it take it all the way down to bare metal? If bare metal, I'd recommend using Rust-Oleum "Rusty Metal Primer." Super easy to use, and pretty darn sturdy.

You say you're using a 5-ton transmission... are you using one of the Overdrive transmissions from an M809 series truck or one from the M39 series (not OD)?

Very nice! I don't see what's wrong with the slobber tube... I guess it is neater to put a hose one it, but they normally didn't have a hose on it.
