    Ferro- The Alternator slayer

I'm really having some issues in the voltage generation department. I'm had 6 alternators die on me in about a year and a half. Different brands, different trucks, different batteries. Am I just a alternator killer? do I have 24vdc repellent in my blood? What gives? I just installed a BRAND...

    Alternator problems?...try this

$100 good take offs from Timntrucks. Going to install mine in the 109, so I can have a dual system for RV accessories and the 24v for the truck.

    VIC-1 Install Complete

Very nice! Was the wiring and plug already installed in the bracket behind the pass seat? If not, where did you get that? looks like an easy way to bring power into the cab. I'm installing my kit and I just need a new CX-4723 cable (I somehow damaged all the pins in one end) and the CX-4720...

generator to run house and well

I'm going to leave it on the trailer. I figure if I can get it cheap enough, the hassle of phase conversion might be worth it. I have several 3 phase pieces of equipment for my shop, and used a motor generator to run them in Norfolk off of single phase. I was thinking of building the same...

generator to run house and well

Hey Jim, My co-worker is working out this same problem right now. We are bidding on a generator for her. As far as I know, when you start getting into generators 15kw and up, you will find 3 phase. Not too much of an issue, you would just have to have balance the loads accross the 3 phases...

    Neat trailer

That's right, you just need to be on a .mil computer to MILSTRIP stuff. My bad.

    ECC Convoy Central 2009

That really sucks Brandon! I'm sorry to hear about your deuce, and now your G/F's dually! Half of me is kind of glad I missed out on the 'fun', the other half wishes I had been there to help out! :-D

    M1009 tow bar and speed

I towed a M1008 with my Dodge 2500 about 400miles with my towbar a couple of weeks ago. Disconnect the rear drive shaft, throw on some lights, unlock the steering, slow down for turns, slow and stop early, you'll be fine. I've towed my Dodge D150 about 500miles doing the same thing, I made...

    ECC Convoy Central 2009

Wow, that sucks! I would be right there with them if I could have taken the time off work! Hope they get it fixed! To bad I'm not with them, I have 3 spare alts I was going to sell at Aberdeen Cabell could have used, and I remember changing his in his deuce 2 years ago! As for Brandon's...

    Neat trailer

Can't open the link because it is currently in the DRMS (DRMO) system, you need to be on a .mil network to access. This is the giant dumping grounds for the military's 'surplus'. If you think it is hard to dig through all the stuff on GL, imagine 10 X that. Everything trickles through for a...

    New CUCV

Nice! I also just got a cucv, but mine is a m1008. What was the difference between the two? Again, good score!:-D

    Wrecker Hydraulic issues

I built cylinder tester when I worked at the steel mill, we would have major hydraulic issues on everything. It was just a 1in ball valve (3000psi rated) with JIC fittings on each end, then I made up a bunch of adapters to 1in, anywhere from 2in to 1in and from 1/4in to 1in so I could use the...

    deuce w/ hiab 950 knuckleboom

Joel, at this rate you need a drum of hydraulic oil! Nice work by the way, coming together slowly but surely!

The official "Vehicle count " for the NC Uharrie Steel Soldiers Rally

Um, I may have missed them, I didn't see any DATES in either thread... Maybe could possibly make it, if I knew when to show up...

    Where's Your License Plate?

That's why I love SC, It could have no windshield, doors, roof and be rusted out. But as long as it has 4 tires with air, operable brakes, all the lights work, and seatbelts, you can drive it. :driver: No inspections here!! I'm glad this thread came up, I have to figure out where to...

    Railroad M1008

Kenny, I just had the front railgear down on the rails! :-D The front works perfectly, although it could use a little bit more hydro fluid. The wires to the rear pump were cut. Not sure why they did that... I'll have to figure it all out and wire it back together again before it is rail bound...
