I thought I read here somewhere that the USMC paper clips on 5 tons indicated lockers, but I can't seem to find that post. Does this truck have lockers? Is there an M series designation for this or is it a chassis with modifications?
Leonard, you could get some made up easily. I got my convoy signs made locally for about $45 each.
That LHS is a versatile truck. Not quite the payload of the PLS, but is does stuff into a C-130 nicely! I'd like to have one or two.
These should work fine in the rear with a hub flip. But since the backspacing is so much more than a normal combat wheel used for singles, there could be some rubbing issues in the front when turning (especially 1600s). If they are cheap enough, they might be worth a shot (don't forget the...
They almost look like they would work on a bridge truck. I would be hesistant to use them on a M52, not knowing if they would get the tire far enough away from the frame for steering.
Has anyone used the HEMTT rims (bolt together or split ring) on a 5 ton? The bolt pattern should be the same, but I believe the rear hubs would have to be flipped to line up the front and rear tires (i.e. you cannot just flip the tire). I'm trying to figure out if I can use them on bridge...
Re: RE: m1008 humvee wheels,tires,run-flats,lift??
The rims are stock HMMWV. I just added 2" spacers on all four corners. That way all HMMWV rims will fit and I don't have to break any down. I can have an endless supply of rims with tires for cheap.
The 16 bolts are from the HEMTTs. They were used with 16.00R20 tires (Michelin XZL). The 10 bolts and 20 bolts were from the M939 series 5 ton. They were used with 14.00R20 tires (Michelin Xl or Goodyear At-2A). I believe the 20 bolts were from A1s and 10 botls from A2s. All three rims have...
No, the rack was made in Ohio, but we have discussed these before and I think you tested them. I did see one nearly identical at Fort Hood (2-3 years ago). There are 2 models, with one being 2000 gallons and one being 3000 gallons. Got any pics or info from the testing?
Yes, I posted about the Dodge. With the tank loaded (5,000 gallons) it is definitely a no go! I plan to move that tank to a M911. NEIOWA and I have been investigating this possibilty.
For the bridge truck, I removed the complete bridging assembly and it now resembles the M812A1 truck...
I got to use a few pieces of equipment today to set a PLS tankrack (water distributor) on a bridge truck chassis. After tipping the module over at first aua , we finally engineered a way to get it loaded for a test fit. I think this project is going to turn out nicely.
I've have the 12 bolt rims with 37" radials on the M1008. No lift, just a little trim! Drives fine. Search the forum for more info and pics. Good luck.
