Good work on the Bristow invites, Jason. I, too, read about the proposed Colorado gathering and realized that we were leaving them out (in the title at least). It takes a lot of work to organize an event like this and have it well attended. It sounds like it will be a small gethering this...
Great, maybe we can get the chance to look them over. Also, we need to invite them into the world of www.steelsoldiers.com!
The event is now less than 2 months away. Where do we stand? What do we need to discuss/finalize? Can we organize small convoy serials like East Coast Convoy? That...
Well, it is time to install a locker and I want some input so I have resurrected an old thread on the topic. For quite some time, I have been evaluating my options on putting a locker in a 5 ton.
I have purchased 2 lockers and I need to decide whether to install both or save 1 for another 5...
RE: Re: RE: New paint and a visit with the highway patrol...
I think I remember that deuce from ebay. Did it come without doors and fuel tank and spare mounted in the bed?
I assume everyone thinks the more the merrier? If so, we should make an effort to invite those attending the Tulsa swapmeet. Maybe get the SS rally mentioned on their flyers and website? Also, I noticed one of the first pics from the park shows a line of deuces there. We should check with...
That is great price. What kind of 5 ton? Assuming the bidder knows what the truck is and call haul it with his equipment, I would go that route in a heartbeat. To drive it, you would have the expense of getting there first. Also, it would take 3 long days to drive home, assuming everything...
RE: Re: tires on m816 - 5ton.
You can run them as duals or I would seriously consider another wheel/tire combo if you want to run singles. An M816 is a very heavy truck, before adding the additional weight of a plow.
The standard size tire is 11.00x20, duals. As for the ones you bought, they will fit on the rim, but will look silly on a M816. After all, they are shorter than a standard 11.00R20 (same diameter as 9.00R20). Maybe you should have considered the 15.5s sold at Carson on GL. I know who bought...
Dealing with Eastern Surplus is a good idea. Let me commend you for that one. That is a good place for a first timer to buy a truck. For the move, plan on a real slow adventure. I would recommend you pay Dave to swap out the 900 tires for 1100s to gain some road speed. He might also be able...
