My M1009 will fry them on dirt, and will chirp them from a dead stop on pavement. Its amazing the difference that advancing the IP a few degrees and turning up the fuel screw an 1/8 of a turn makes on these engines.
FWIW, an injector knock is very loud on these engines. It can sound a lot like a rod knock. The injectors have a very high psi "pop" pressure. When mine did it years ago, I thought my engine was gone.
That thing is on ebay. It is sitting on a 2000 Vette chassis. Believe it or not, the current bid is up to almost $10,000!

Maybe, but the missing also sounds like an sticky injector. They can and do act up intermittently at times. I had one that would do that on an '84 K10 I had years ago. It would come and go until I finally replaced the injectors. I sold that truck still running great with 339K on the clock.
A light tapping in a 6.2 is usually either an injector or a collapsed lifter. Neither are a real big deal, and not too hard to fix. To check for an injector, use a stethoscope or a piece of wood and put it on each injector and find the one that tapping the loudest. Once you find it, grab a 19mm...
The internals were pretty much shot on the old gate. The regulator may be useable with new rollers, but the crank was broken and window guides are pretty rusted.
I'm not in the market for a hood, but if I head up there anytime soon, I'll sure give you a shout.
LOL - no doubt.
I agree with this. My M1009 shifted hard and held the gears a little too long when got it from GL, and it was it a vacuum related problem. I replaced all the lines from the vac pump to the vac switch on the IP and to the transmission and it made it shift normally.
Thanks guys.
I'm in Valley, right on the AL- GA line on I-85. I am about 45 mins from Montgomery. I drag raced at MMP for years, so I have spent many a weekends there.
I have not got it painted yet. I am going to try to get the rocker panel welded in this weekend, and I'm going to try to...
No you won't need 6.5 heads. The 6.5 heads have higher flowing precups with makes a a little more power, but you don't need them to turbocharge it. The green engine in the video above has 6.2 heads. You don't need the 6.5 IP either, but it is a good upgrade if you can get it cheap. I've...
