I decided to put mine in the center of the gate. I didn't care for the offset look, and I didn't want to remove my pintle or cover my B/O lights, so this was best option. I found a metal plate frame at Advance, and sprayed it green along with screws, so it at least makes the plate seem a little...
That's interesting. Most diesels will not do anything (except hydrolock if its enough) if you pour diesel in the intake. Diesel fuel has to be injected at high pressure directly into the combustion chamber or precup to ignite normally. Now gasoline or starting fluid/solvent, that's another story!
I'm sure this is common knowledge around here, but I discovered that my rear blackout lights have a brake light tonight. I was showing my M1009 to my brother tonight and showing him how the blackout lights and blackout drive light worked, and he made the comment "That's cool, the rears even have...
I agree. I've noticed this in several hydroboost equipped vehicles I've had. Not all of them do it, but my 2 current ones (my '84 M1009 and '67 C-30 with a retrofitted hydroboost) do it.
Echoeing others, I'd say the M1009 is the better daily driver. Having both would be nice, but it really depends on what you need. Having 2 is double the upkeep. double the insurance, and double the license plates - BUT - that's never stopped me before!;) I'm insurancing and tagging 5 trucks, a...
No doubt! I 6-71 Detroit will hurry and do it. I agree with others that say that it makes more sense that the 2 strokes do it and I KNOW they will do it, but after the numerous first hand accounts on here, I'm a believer that the LDT's will do it too.
Very nice!
Its funny that you mention the shocks, because one of the first things I noticed when I as looking my M1009 over at GL lot was the brand spanking new shocks. The whole underside of the truck was dusty and dirty, but the shocks were just gleaming.
Tell her how good they are on fuel, and if you had one as your daily driver, you'd probably save enough money to buy her a new pair of shoes every couple of months! That should do it!
I can't wait to do this mod. I recently bought a wrecked 'Burb with an older Banks Sidewinder kit on it. It is pretty much the same as the newer one, except it "Y"'s into the factory dual exhaust system under the cab. I consider that a plus, because I love the look of the factory duals on my...
I haven't had mine long enough to do a true average, but I filled it up last Friday and since then I have put 121 miles on it. I stopped and filled it up again today, and the pump cut off at $16.73 (5.789 gallons). That comes out to 20.9 MPG, and that's mainly in town driving. So far, I'm...
It was the same for me. I got a response from them, and about 10 minutes later (I get email notifications on my Blackberry) I got my PIF invoice. I don't know if I buy the coincidence thing. Whyme, me, and now you have all had the same "coincidence" happen if it is!
When I got my truck the "0" and the "3" were painted over. I changed them out to 69 just by default, but I do want to go back with the 03 or maybe 04 when I get myself a M101A2 trailer.
