    My New toy

Ok guys, got my new inner seal for the left front axle coming in tomorrow, as is my slide hammer/seal puller. I've been kind of stalled waiting for these two things. Today, I finally packed the right front u-joint with grease...two tubes is a LOT of pumping with a grease gun! I guess I...

    My New M37

Truck is looking great! I am unfortunately stalled until the new inner axle seals for the front axle come in (HOPEFULLY tomorrow...) I have been painting the brake drums, and drum supports as well to help protect them a bit. I've actually been using restoleum high temp primer on the brake...

1954 M37 Project Any Sugestions Appreciated!

The TM should be up for free on this site under resources....that'd probably be the quickest way to get it. The oil filter I BELIEVE is NAPA 1100. If you are going to be doing wheel cylinders, your gonna need to locate a spindle wrench- 8 sided socket that can fit in and take out the...

Deuce that is slow to start.

BOTH good points gentlemen. As a fellow full time (albeit seasonal) firefighter I can honestly say, it dosen't hurt ANYBODY (even seasoned guys) to participate in regular driver training. Training and familiarity with a peice of apparatus for the entire crew can make the difference in a run...

Deuce that is slow to start.

This may be stating the obvious but.... revving the engine helps build air pressure and what everyone else said....low air buzzer, you can start it but it isn't safe to use the breaks yet

    My New toy

So I had a 4 day weekend here...did a bit of work on the old truck. I got all new brake lines and hoses installed in the front axle (vintage power wagons pre-bent brake line kit), lucky for me all of the brass fittings and union nuts cleaned up great...just had about an inch of grime ontop of...

    My New toy

Glen, thanks for the info! I got all the grease off, the u-joint is almost perfect underneath it all. So I take it you don't NEED to pack the whole thing full? This deffinately was. On the other side I greased the **** out of the u-joint, and put a thin coating on the inside of the flange...

    My New toy

So, without meaning too, I ended up stripping the other side of the front axle tonight. Everything came apart smoothly... until I ate two holes in my father's lawn with the grease:roll: So, with these two pictures, I've got a question. Obvious oil contamination of the grease; possible bad...

    My New toy

So last night I finally got the tire and hub on... Last few days I've spent sanding, priming, and spraying the rim... doesn't look PERFECT, but the main point of it was to protect it more then it was, when I do the body work I will repaint it again. A little overspray on the tires...but they...

    My New M37

STSCSS, anytime no problem! I have been dealing with Memphis Equipment quite a bit, and I love them. Probably a tiny bit more expensive, but when you call you can talk to a real mechanic not just a salesman, and they have been able to answer quite a few of my technical questions no...

    Military Fire Trucks

I agree....I can just JUST make out "Forest Products Corporation" on the door in one of the photos....possibly a fire truck for a logging operation?

    Military Fire Trucks

Very cool! I'd have to say it IS military, as you can see the blackout marker lights in a couple of the pictures...poor thing seems to be parked in its final resting place! Looks to me like an inhouse built fire tender, but I could be wrong.

    My New toy

Alright gentlemen, the last few days I've been priming and painting the out side of the brake drum, the brake drum support (which holds the shoes and wheel cylinder, and hub assembly with high heat paint. I wanted to give them a little more protection from the elements and corrosion. I also...
