Is there perhaps a commercial replacement for the 7155 that would give it the same speed, but in a 100% automatic package like the Allison?
Another question: with the 6x6 and 8x6 capability in the M916/M920, is the transfer case in each of these trucks divorced or non-divorced from the tranny...
JJ - I think saving this was a good thing. It may be a lot more than most here, but hey, it's your cash. You can restore it how you want it, without trashing a restored example. Please keep us updated with pics as you progress....
Folding jacks are garbage, always have been. The reason they are there in your truck is because they are so cheap to make, heck they are folded sheet metal put together. I've had a couple of them bend and break apart under normal loads.
Get either an 8-ton bottle jack (you can use it for the...
I've used steam cleaners before, they are great on equipment and trucks. MAKE SURE you wear eye protection when using it, the pressure is high enough to spray junk back towards you, and oily dirty steam in your eyes sucks. There are guys out there who make a living going around and steam...
The M915/916/920 has a Cummins 400 for an engine, and a Cat 7155 semi-automatic transmission, which based on feedback from others, is quirky and isn't very reliable. Is there another drop-in replacement for the CAT 7155 tranny that is more robust, preferably something in a full automatic for...

I tried getting into the BAMA site, and when I try and download any manuals, it says this:
"The download limit has been reached, please come back later to try again."
I've been trying for over a week. Any help?
What gimpy said. Most S-280 shelters have had many ports and holes drilled in them over the years for running all sorts of cabling, ductwork, etc. through the side wall. If you cut a nice square piece of aluminum from another junker shelter, and nicely rivet it on, noone will be the wiser.
There was a DUKW over over armyjeeps.net that sold recently for $80K. I doubt you have that much cash floating around to blow on mutilating a historical piece.
However, if you have a CCKW or G506 with no bed, and some boatmaking skills, you might be able to fabricate one up for a fraction of...
