I didnt use the stock filter box. I went with a cone filter and was able to keep both stock batteries and trays. its a bolt in thing :D
one thing removing the stock passenger side manifold its a PITA, you have to use a wrench (no room for a socket).

get new fusible links from the parts store. cut them out and crimp the new ones on. solder will mess them up due to the heat.
welcome to the site, and for your cucv, you could get away with a small towbar, but if your planning on ever getting a bigger truck just go ahead and get the medium bar.
yup its the heater core, do it sooner than later. Otherwise one day your gonna get a bunch on your floor. Its the same as the civilian truck, so if needed a haynes or chilton manual can be used. I would have to look but the procedure should be in the -24 (unit maint.)

yup the sections of blue wire, if they have the insulation burned of or feel brittle inside, replace them.

when you look at the way that crossover steering changes the forces on the steering box,(from a front to back swisting, to a top to bottom twisting) it places stress on the frame in a wider area. I agree that the brace isnt a bad idea for peace of mind (i may eventually put one on my truck)...
