Don't have a M37 to measure. Data tag shows 53" from center of front axle to the center of gravity which looks close to the back of the cab (viewing the data plate)
anyway, I'm thinking of transplanting a body & that measurement is needed to see if this will work.
'84 M1009 60k on the clock
Apologize in advance if there's an easy to find thread on this issue, I searched, because I know it must have been covered here.
On cold starts, this things is scary loud clanking.
Quiets down after the fast idle(<-- wrong terminology) kicks off. Once warm it runs...
The M880 is the same as a civi 3/4 ton.
That being said a dressed & lubed 6bt can go about 1100lbs where the stock 318 comes in about 700 lbs.
So we are looking at 400 maybe 500 extra pounds depending on trans choice.

running them low on fluid is a real quick path to a rebuild.
Yes the D60 up front is open
Only issue I had was trying a slow tight turn on blacktop with my new mud terrains, didn't want to move at all, needed mo power!
POR15 will only stick to steel, once cured on the steel it will last forever!
It will peel off of anything else. Paint won't even stick to it after it has cured.
I did a spot on a quarter panel years ago, several years later the panel rusted out around the POR15, I had kept that piece for quite...
I have (without the seats attached) put a "J" hook bolt through one of the pin holes for the seats. Then align with a lug hole & tighten to the side rack.
This is on my M884 beater/work/plow truck.
Several years ago I had devised a plan to modify the stock hangar for a 36" tire along with a V5...
a 72 3/4 ton 4x4 is kinda rare around these parts.
I'm missing something here, end result of the 72 being a 4x2 ????????????
I have been considering swapping my M1009 axles with a set with 3.42 gears out of a 87 1500 PU
