That's a pretty neat kit there, but I can't justify paying $149 for a few pieces of sheet metal when a small MBT isn't too much more than that.
I guess if you factor in labor from re-routing your vitals to the breakers in an MBT bkr box, it might be worth it.
I'll man up when I show up at the plant Thursday, and make some electricity. So get a job making electricity before you tell me to man up and get it. People like me are who you get it from.
The POCO isn't going to offer up 480 Wye to a homeowner. 240 Delta would be potentially disastrous to a DIY'er due to the red leg.
Edited to correct brainfart as pointed out.......
For the most part, those of you considering a 15KW or even 30KW mil genset, you are getting WAY too much. An el-cheapo, sure, you get about what you pay for, but the starting capabilities of mil sets is huge. The MEP003 at 10 KW is conservatively rated, actually puts out around 14KW, and will...

Also, there's a data plate on the IP that will say LDS.
I'm saying I have an LDS465-1A and IP. What the IP is set at I don't know. I have no basis for comparison as I never driven another duece.
I can tell you that it'll do 55-60 MPH with plenty of throttle to spare, and I usually dont slow down on hills all that much. I haven't had it on any steep...
The whistle is cool and all. It's neat, but it's loud. I work 2nd shift, so If I drive the deuce to work for whatever reason, I have to stop at a nearby gas station to let the turbo cool down, then creep home as slow as I can, and try to get it off before the thing wakes the neighborhood up...
BigMike: I'm not calling your telling of the story into question by anymeans. I'm just saying the situation you described is BS. I've been naive and on amny cross country trips, BUT, I always had a bailout.
Hell, State Farm would've gotten me out of there by now.
I hope the best for the...
