    Wiring up stuff (lights)

Front light brackets, I did them this way because I didn't want to drill holes in the bumper or front bumper supports. Partially because I didn't want to deal with drilling through such a thick hunk of metal, and partially because I want to leave as few permanent modifications as possible. ie...

    S-318 0n M103A3

The M514 trailer is interesting in that it has very large fender wells and the suspension is a set of torsion axles. The fender wells have tool boxes on their tops. The M390C is the one with the tallest suspension I've seen and the most shallow fender wells. Add some bracing and you'll have...

    S-318 0n M103A3

I wish this S283 shelter were closer, its ideal for what I want to do on a 1.5 ton trailer. Davis Monthan AFB is a bit far to drive for a shelter though.

Bruce Beatty has a M390C with an S250 shelter setup. I think the M390Cs are a bit larger.

    Trailer Recepticals?

Ok, there are two rubber parts. One that merely holds the wires and one that holds the pins and is pressed through the metal fixture from the back. I took two c-clamps and hooked them over the back of the flange (assembly taken off of the truck to dangle down). A large socket that would fit...

    S-318 0n M103A3

It looks like I have a line on a whole mess of M390C and M514 trailers. They're hawk missile trailers. I'll be looking for things to trade them for. Most of them have some of the equipment boxes on them, but some are missing jacks and of course the radar gear.

    Wiring up stuff (lights)

Ok, so after two days of crawling around under the Deuce in drizzle and windy cold weather, I now have two 20 amp breakers on the firewall supplying power to the #37 lead and to a set of switches under the dash next to the door. The left most switch does the dual front floods. The next powers...

    Bed Bow section lengths?

45" for the upright lengths works out accurately. The Top bows worked out to be 75 1/2" I cut them at 77" since the wood stock I used was a touch thinner and tended to go past the stops in the elbow sections and up against the pins.

    Trailer Recepticals?

Squirt truck designed a box that works pretty well. It takes power from the truck lead #37 and converts it to 12 volts with a DC-DC converter. Then you supply 12 volt power via a 20 amp fuse to inertial brake controller. That gets the signal for brake function via an airline switch that hooks to...

    Trailer Recepticals?

Emmado, I managed to pop it out with a pair of C-Clamps a big socket and a wrench to bridge across. Came out pretty simply with the use of steady pressure on the c-clamps. Soldering in the tight space was tough. It looks like it'll hold, but not my best soldering job. I'll have to make sure I...

I prefer a vehicle that looks like you went back in time snatched one off the battlefield at a camp and brought it back.

Adding a third axle to an M36

Why not put a steering axle in the front just behind the cab and move the rear axles back a bit?

    Trailer Recepticals?

How do these things come apart? I need to be able to supply power on pin K (wire 37) for the power converter that's going to provide power for the brakes and brake controller in the trailer. I've pulled the rear compression ring off. Should the whole rubber plug pop out the back allowing the...

    Wiring up stuff (lights)

So I've made up some brackets for my floods. Turns out the rear flood will mount up to an extra hole in the bracket that supports the rear mudflap holder. The front lgiths are mounting under the front bumper. I've made some 16 gauge triangle shaped brackets for the front floods that'll mount on...

    Anyone curious about the M35A3?

I think you should include this as well. Just add another 10 years. Certain things are more or less a compromise. I'd have to say that the hydraulic winch allows more flexibility and additional options.

    Anyone curious about the M35A3?

There's a great photo array over at webshots. http://community.webshots.com/album/30269727THfhDJcfRD The exhaust is in front of the cab and the insulation on the engine compartment is probably there to help reduce the sound and heat signature of the truck. There are hydraulics to drive the...

MVs headed to scrap, anyone need any parts?

Heck, Jeep folks pay a pretty penny for those Rockwell axles.

    Bed Bow section lengths?

I'll probably go with the longer stave 48" just for strength and I don't have the metal blocks. I'm going to have to fabricate or scrounge the straps for rolling up the sides and securing them.
