It was the angle that was the real killer. Use a tiny bit to get a little purchase and then keep moving progressively larger until you can finally get the easyout to set and then have the stupid thing less than finger tight.
Oh well, valuable lesson learned. At $2 a piece I'll probably just...
That was the reason I had to change mine to begin with. Quite the pain to get the broken bolt out especially as it was broken at an angle. My 1010 will be here next week and it's getting new starter bolts before I even try to start it.
I figured out what was wrong with my starter. It was apparently binding up after all. I took a ratchet and moved the crank a notch and it fired right up. Since this isn't the exact starter for the 1009 not sure what to do about a shim kit. Any suggestions?
2 M35A2s went at Ft Sam today as scrap. Neither ran and both were missing parts (tranny out of one). One of them brought $550 and the other $820 (missing the tranny). The trannyless one has now sold at least 4 times this year. Hopefully it'll finally go to the winning bidder.
The last...
Don't want to steal the thread but I've got some starter problems myself.
About three weeks ago starter gave out on me in town and turned out the casing had broken and either broke a bolt off in the block or vice versa. Bolt was broken at an angle so it took a friend about 3 hours to get a...
I believe the "due process" was sending him a letter. Non-compliance with the letter allows them to move to the next level - seizing non-compliant property. But as someone else already noted - only get legal advice from an attorney.
If you're not doing a 100pt restoration winner then Sid Beck in Victoria can give you a good deal on a Greek wiring harness. They're color coded instead of black with aluminum number markings. Since mine (actually the wife's) is just going to be a Motorpool driver I figured 1/10th the cost of...
Is that what is called the DUVAC? A couple of folks recommended getting a power conditioner to assist/replace that.
For folks who have these vehicles or worked with them in the military, can the rear compartment a/c cool the cab with a little assistance, say a fan or some type of deflector to...
Tillimook, OR still has an intact blimp hanger. They've turned it into an pretty awsome air musuem. When I was there they had 2 flying P38s (have heard since then one crashed and was destroyed), a PBY, several Nam era planes, and a LARGE pile of B17 parts.
So NDT, when are you going to start...
There is currently a local truck that has sold at least 3 times since this spring and now they just have it listed as scrap. As Pawnshop said, maybe they didn't understand the cost of shipping or didn't realize what it was going to cost to get it going. I do know one of the winning bidders on...
Have to correct that. Andy just bought a 1009 so now there are 6 and while I did not own his, it is coming to my house along with the 1010.
You can now call me the CUCV Whisperer instead of Sunshine.
Well I really can't be too critical seing as where it came from. Kind of funny that there are 5 1009's in the club, 3 of them were once mine, and now I don't own 1.
Well the funny thing about mine is they forgot to make it EUC mandatory so I got my "Paid In Full" invoice the next day. Bad thing is a friend bought a 1009 at the same auction and to save money we're having them shipped together so I have to wait on his EUC.
If this is your first it could...
I think it was actually Road Dept. During the big floods of '78? the county was "loaned" some M37s for disaster relief. They "forgot" to give them back after everything was over. Another Alamo MVPA member in Kerrville has one from the same batch.
We got the latest member of the stable home last night. I bought our first M37 out of PA (pos rust bucket body) and then I find this one about 2 miles from the house.
Prior owner put a lot of money in to a 4 wheel disc brake kit, including the machining of the hubs, for his teenage son who...
Man I wish mine was already camo. I hate to think about having to paint it (outside) in December. Well at least I'm not in Indiana having to paint it (outside) in December.
Any goodies in the back? Mine has 2 of the litters. Just missing the passenger side hanging one. Of course it's...
If it's just a mud bash you'll rule out a lot of MV folks. If you have something more you're likely to get a bigger crowd. I'm in no matter what but the wife would probably prefer not to get that dirty.
