Well the First Annual Fill the Deuce Food Drive for Operation Homefront was a success! We didn't get the chance to cross the scales but had a knowledgable individual calculate between 2k-3k pounds in food. We had the first 3rd of the bed stacked with boxes and wrapped groupings of canned foods...
The original poster asked about "sand rail" FAVs so I believe my post was in line with it. Plus I don't recall requirements that every thread stay "on topic" specific to that thread. Let the mods decide what's appropriate and what's not.
The one Papa has a photo of is not the ones they had at Ft. Lewis. The Chenowith FAV looks like a sand rail with 2 front seats and a gunner that stands behind them in the middle (I know that picture is kind of configured that way but these looked like, well, a sand rail). They had rear mounted...
The FAVs (Fast Attack Vehicle) that I saw while stationed at Ft. Lewis were basically rail dune buggies made by Chenowith. Not sure what the M designation was.
I think that's the one that didn't have the lift mechanism. The rear door is crunched in some also. I'm sure you can tie it shut if you plan on driving it out. I didn't try starting any of them so not sure the condition there. I can swing by next week if you'd like me to try and fire it up...
Which one did you get? I previewed all of them and the sand colored one was best but it was missing the box A/C and without the lift gate down you couldn't see if anything was inside. None of the other trucks had the lift gate but all but one had the hydro set up.
Broadway Title is out of Alabama and any vehicle prior to 1975 (I believe that's the cutoff) doesn't get a title just a registration. What Broadway does is basically purchase your vehicle for $10 or so and registers it in Alabama and then sells it back to you. You take their paperwork with the...
Yeh I've titled 2 for myself and 3 I've sold this year in TX and they want their money. At least with government paperwork they don't hit you with the 20 day penalty.
In that same vain, anyone who has a deuce frame with title should probably hang on to it in case they do start mutilating deuces. Putting a new body on an old frame with title is perfectly legal in most areas. Some states may make you get a builder's title but if you have frame, data plate...
I got one of the 105A3s at Hooks. $265 but the tongue is on the ground. I'm hoping it has the landing gear, but if not I think a 105 with racks, bows, top, and a spare is worth $265.
I had the fuse issue last week on a truck I sold and was delivering. Once I got around to checking the fuse it was still good but I scrapped the contact area any way and when I put it back in the pump kicked on again. No idea why driving down the road it decided to die on me and then was as...
Keith_J was out today to help with wrenching on a few things and he was able to pull my latch out to inspect it. Turns out the spring was broken right at the tang. He bent another 90 degree angle on the end that broke and presto chango I had a working door latch.
I have to add that not only...
Just a bump to remind everyone of the Fill the Deuce Food Drive this weekend. If you're coming to the Randolph Air Show might as well through that can of green beans that's been in the cupboard since last Thanksgiving in the car and donate it.
You guys had an awsome display at WOH. I was the dorky guy in the Hawiian shirt that showed you a pic of his deuce. I really wish the Alamo MVPA had nearly half the guys show up at events that your club put out. It'd be nice to have 1 (let alone 2) M113's there also. We're doing the Randolph...
Flat terrain I keep the needle buried (so between 60-65mph) at 2200rpm. Drops to around 50mph at 2500rmp as soon as I hit a hill. The flat speed was confirmed by the wife traveling behind me. I know it's not as acurate as a GPS but that system has worked fine for me since the 70's.
