...especially the postings by gringeltaube. It's a good thread on this very subject...
The Synth stuff is vunerable to UV damage (unless you get the ugly brown stuff, and then it's only partly protected).
Nominal strength on the 6x19 1/2" wire rope is 23K lbs, the same 3/8" wire rope is nearly half that at 13.1K lbs. Stick with a good 1/2" 6x19 fiber core wire rope (what the...
I asked Mike about the J-pipes a few months back...he said he was getting a new stock of them, but was out. Haven't followed up to see if he got any new in.
I would just have a muffler shop fix you up one....it's not anything special.
You are correct Pawnshop...ha, I'm not properly caffeinated yet. :)
Shootiniron, the 14.50s I think are perfect for the M35s. They are the stock tire for the M35A3. I got mine from Berg tire for $125 per + ride last year, and they are all at least 90% tread. They claimed to have a lot back...
The link above in my post has the ratings for the 11.00R20...4520 @ 80psi. No dual rating in the chart...
(Correction: 7200@115 Single/6360 @115 dual).
Just FYI: The 14.50R20 Michelin XLs are rated at over 7165lbs/tire at 80psi. I actually picked up overall (tire) capacity by singling it out to 14.50s over the dual 9.00x20 bias plys (of course that does not increase the payload of the truck, but you get my point here). I definitely picked up...
Note to all that the A3 and the late model (late 80s) A2s have the same braking system (split system) with only minor tweaks.
Note also that the air tanks on the split system are different...two chamber air tanks.
Honestly, this is a complicated retro-fit. If it wasn't, it would be done more...
See this pic from the TM mentioned above. Note all the stuff with asterisks...that's all new stuff, plus all of the plumbing. It's all really tight in there too...just FYI.
Welcome!! This is the right place for anything CUCV. If there's a solution, these guys will have it.
When you get your truck, be sure to post pictures. We all love pictures.
Steve, the 5/8" cable should indicate a 20K winch. Posting a few pics will help us ID it further (there are several types found on trucks and wreckers, so we'll need to see it to make a real identification).
I believe the term is "shock load" which can be many times the static load on the machinery. I would say that the winch pin breaking under shock load explains 90% of the breakages referenced above. Taking up slack in the line, shifting load, quick engage/disengage. All of these will break...
I have the HF 1" referenced above. It's a good unit and does go on sale for $99 periodically. You will need 1/2" line and good 1/2" couplers to make it work at it's peak efficiency. I also use a torque stick to install the nuts and cap screws to the correct torque rating (cheaper than a...
I filter the coolant on my 06 F350 diesel. I put the filter on before the truck had 1000 miles. After about 4000, I changed the filter and cut it open...3-4 tablespoons of black casting sand in the bottom of the filter! (I had a pic, but can't find it now).
Those things really work...
