Looks like a good one, already has a new IP (thats a big expense)
would be worth looking at that truck for sure, the guy actually knows about its electrical system, thats a good sign that he's taken care of it properly.
RE: FNG
alfaheaven has turnkey trucks, but you should search for posts regarding any vendor before making such a choice.
If someone on here is selling one, i'd recommend you get it from them. you can check the classifieds section, its under the "resources" tab at teh top of the page.
if you click on the photo album link in my sig, you will see all the install pics. It was complete bolt on, except the exhaust crossover pipe (beause my kit was on a 2wd truck). I had it installed in about 3days of working a few hours a day.
yes you do that after the engine has gotten up to operating temp. not while the engine is running though.
there is the manual sticky post at the top of the forum, the timing adjustment should be in the engine manual.
ALL CUCV's got the TH400 transmission. Most of the cucv's got the NP208 transfer case (except for some of the contact trucks that got the NP205)
The overdrive transmission is the 700R4, the TH350 is simpley a less "robust" version (lighter duty) of the TH400
My truck shifs from 1st to 2nd gear...
iirc, it is supposed to heat the fuel up to a certain temp, until the engine warms up and the returned fuel to the tank keeps the rest of the fuel up to operating temp.
you need to grab all the turbo stuff off of a 6.5 engine. the turbo, downpipe (you will have to modify it slightly), the passenger side exhaust manifold, the plate that covers the mechanical lift pump on the block for the oil return line, and the oil feed line.
Its a bolt on modification. you...
that or you could just give the beeper a 12v ignition hot power source and run the ground to the ground wire on the glowplug relay, that way it will still be activated when the plugs are on but will have a seperate power source.
285's are a good fit for the truck without lifting it.
you can run 35" tires with some minor trimming if you pick a skinny tire and keep the factory backspacing on the rims.
They do not fit at all. the passenger side one will try to exit right where the framerail is. They are not a good header design, and fyi diesels dont really benefit from headers. You'd be best off to just run a 3" dual exhaust or put a turbo on the truck.
