Did your teacher tell you this or one of your "know it all" classmates? If this came from your teacher I'd seriously think about changing schools. If he doesn't know one of the basic principles of a diesel engine ( fuel + air = heat) he's not qualified to teach diesel mechanics.
It is true that...
You don't necessarily have to have them crossed (although there's nothing wrong with crossing chains). You just need to make sure the chains are pulling opposite directions side to side and front to back. In other words, the chains need to be pulling against one another.
I always like to cross...
What about a set of machinery dollies attached to the feet? They would be more than sturdy enough (get 10 ton ones if you like). That would still allow you to roll front and back but wouldn't swivel like casters would.
Why is my first quote wrong? I just said I'd never seen a fluted drum on a crane. I wasn't saying none existed, just that I'd never seen one. Also, there is no second rap on a wrecker drum.
I see what you are saying on the second part but take the fluted drum and roller off the wrecker and see...
Every crane I've ever seen (and I've seen quite a few) had a smooth drum. I have seen crane drums with grooves worn in them though.
The main difference in the way a crane is set up and a wrecker is that cranes always have a weighted hook that keeps the line right on the drum. The wreckers...
How long has it been since they asked for corrections? It may already be too late.
You will get hit with the 25% default fee. They can, per their terms you agreed to when you bid, keep the total amount.
On a ethical note, you really should follow through with the sale if at all possible. You...
Personally, I have my doubts about it on thick steel. The way the website sounds it will weld anything but the crack of dawn.
I also wonder, even if it will weld thick steel ok, if your batteries or deuce charging system will be able to hold up.
I guess the fact is that I could buy a A3, list it as a '69 on the sf97 form, and get it titled as a '69. I'm not sure how legal that is though because it's my understanding that they were considered new trucks when the A3 was built.
They used, on average, 3 A2 trucks to build one A3. If you...
M35A3s weren't considered rebuilt trucks. They were considered new trucks. The "DDAEO-93-C-R110" is the contract number under which the truck was built.
Seeing as how they were considered new trucks, you can't find out where the donor trucks came from and apply for historic plates. The trucks...
As I said above, I have pulled double M105s at 60 mph. It tracked fine with no weaving but I did have about 500lbs in the front of the front trailer. The rear trailer was empty.
With two loaded trailers I don't think it would work. You have to keep in mind that any tongue weight the rear...
If you are talking about hwy pulling power, then yes. A powerstroke f450 will run off and leave a deuce on the hwy grossing the same weight. Off road at slow speeds a deuce should have the advantage.
The most I've ever towed with a deuce on-road is another deuce (around 13,000 lbs). It's about...
I had a truck that the liner came apart. You won't loose any oil if this happens.
How's the coolant level? If you did in fact hydro lock a cylinder you should have quite a bit of coolant in the oil.
I will admit I've done it. I would never advise doing it though and I'm unsure if it's legal.
If you do pull the double you'll need some weight in the front trailer. If not you will wreck if you get up to any speed above 20 mph or so. I think I added about 500lbs to the front of the front trailer.
More times than not, the keys will be stuck so bad you'll destroy them getting them out. I've always been able to remove them with a hammer and chisel.
They will more than likely let you by just paying the default fee. It just depends if they are willing to work with you. Most of the time they will.
It's an expensive mistake even paying the default fee. The towing company may very well be lying about not getting the paperwork but the OP still...
It is all but impossible to check the backlash per the TM with the trans in the truck. There's no room to get a dial indicator in there between the PTO and the frame. I always just do mine by feel. Remember, it's better to be a little too loose than too tight.
