IFTA is based on mileage and gallons of fuel used, not weight.
In TN, IFTA isn't required if you are not commercial. If you have apportioned tags you are considered commercial though.
I run commercial trucks so there may be some loopholes that I don't know about when you aren't hauling...
In TN, when you buy apportioned tags you are considered commercial. I'm 99% sure you have to have a USDOT number if you run apportioned tags. They ask for your USDOT number when you apply for apportioned tags (IRP application). These days all the different agencies (TDOT, USDOT, IFTA, IRS) are...
I don't know what the cost would be for that weight tag and those states. You will also have to sign up for IFTA, KYU number, and a USDOT number. KY will nail you for not having a KYU number. You'll also have to pay the federal hwy use tax (form 2290) if you put more than 5,000 miles a year on...
Why can't he drive it himself?
I would help if I could and hope somebody helps him out but people really need to think about how they are going to get a truck home before they bid.
As Ron said, rail won't work. Even if you could talk them into hauling it for a reasonable fee, You'd still have...
The fact is, EUC times can range from 5 days to 6 months or more. I'd say 10-20 days is the norm but I have waited 6 months before and it wasn't my first one.
I would strongly suggest you go and preview your first GL purchase. That way you'd know what the truck needed to get it going before...
Well you can buy individual LEDs very cheap from China. A buddy of mine bought 100 of them for (I think) $5. Of course you have to build a headlight to mount them in and wire them all up.
The winch pump is rated 14GPM at 1200 rpm. I don't recall the pto rpm at governed speed but it's much more than 1200 rpm. Actual pump output at governed speed (2100 engine rpm) is around 20 or so gpm.
I think it will just be a grass roots effort if anything.
Back when they were trying to implement the new diesel standards that are now in effect for new vehicles, most of the big trucking companies were all for it. The only reason I can come up with as to why they were for it is it will force...
It's iffy if I can get away that weekend but if I can I'll be there. I've got a bunch of deuce parts I can bring. Just about anything on a deuce I've got at least one of.
A lot of the wheelers around here run propane to deal with the incline problems of carbs.
Kenny, Most of the newer vehicles don't have greasable u-joints.
I've never seen a engine driven welder that wasn't also a generator. Well there was the old straight DC Pipelinners. They did have outlets but it was DC current.
Engine driven welders will do both welding and generating fine. They do tend to be lower generator wattage than a comparable size...
David Doyle posted the somewhat complex formula awhile back showing what the government and GL makes (good luck finding it). GL does get a pretty good part of the sale when you include the 10% the buyer pays.
True. I think mainly it has to do with the trans not turning the transfer case PTO at low RPMs. I don't think it will tear anything up with the t-case pto engaged at idle. At least not for short periods.
On the M936 I had, the PTO shifter lever was really hard to engage. You'd think you had it in but it wouldn't be. Shift it in and look up under the truck to make sure the driveshaft is spinning.
Another thing is the auto-throttle on my truck was messed up. At idle the bed wouldn't work. Does...
You can't hardly kill Kudzu by chemical means. It can't stand grazing though and it will kill it and it won't be back. Goats do love the stuff.
The main problem with ethanol is it takes more energy to make it than it produces with today's technology. The commercial ethanol industry is heavily...
I've got a 8LL I've thought about putting into a M936. I haven't took the measurements yet to see if it would fit though. Just at a glance it looks like it would fit in a M939 series. I'm not sure about a older 5-ton though.
If you read the fine print of the terms you agreed to, they aren't even obligated to give your money back. To summarize the terms it says " they do not guarantee the accuracy of the pics and you are obligated to take whatever you won". This is another reason why you really should inspect the...
