Awesome job,its on my watch list! If it had a 2" lift,4.10 gears,OD trans and a turbo it would be my dream 1009.

I read somewhere on a towing site that on the 6.2/6.5,at idle, heads are getting equal flow of coolant,but at 2500 rpms drivers side head is getting 76% of coolant flow.So the passenger side would be hot spot.Made me wonder about putting a rear coolant crossover on to help equalize flow.

Thankyou CUCVLOVER for this topic.It got me thinking about gears and OD.A vehicle with 4.10 gears and a .75 OD would be right around 3.08 gears in OD.With 33s.With 3.73s it would be like 2.79 final ratio.I wonder what the optimum rpm range is for mpg?

Using a gear ratio calculator a vehicle with 4.56 gears,31 tires traveling at 65 mph would be pulling 3212.59 rpms.A vehicle with 3.08 gears ,31 tires at 65mph would be at 2169.91 rpms. Same 3.08 geared vehicle at 2500rpm comes out to be 74.89 mph. A 3.08 vehicle with 33s at 75mph the rpms...

1009 with 33x10.5s,GPS,not unusual for me to run 75mph on interstate,have had her well over 80mph.MPGs really suffer over 65mph on mine.

I remember my first coldstart experience,scared the heck out of me.I turned it off thinking I blew it up.I have learned a lot since then.I now run Rotella T-6,starts are much quieter now.Wait til you start it at -10 degrees.Really loud.

Also make sure your cable size is up to snuff,when I got my 1009 I had some 8ga.cables and 6ga. cables on it,and those really cheap steel band type batt. terminals.

I would do a compression check on that motor,looks like a a lot of oil on your injectors.Maybe rings are bad.

NPT to a/n fittings would be the way to go,stainless braided hose very flexable and easy to work with. It comes in any color you want,preferably black.

From your descriptions your IP is set up normal,if you want to increase MPG.Taller tires,less restriction on air flow input and a less restrictive exhaust would help.Also make sure your thermo-stat is functionally proper.Remember Im running 33s not stock size 31 tires.

I have a stock 6.2 1009 with 33x10.5 tires,normaly get 18mpg.If its blowing black smoke it may be turned up to much.If not I wouldn't mess with.

Start with your batteries,even a great running 6.2 wont start if its not spinning fast enough.
