It's off. Pulled just the two.
Funny part is after I broke it free I put the air chisel with the pointed tip in the center of the stud and it started to pull out on it's own.
Put the chisel on the back stud I didn't even touch for about 30 seconds and I was able to pull it out with a pair of...
Tried it, no joy.
What I though, just making sure.
I don't think there isn't a spot on this steering plate I haven't hit, lol
Studs are coming out, started with a big pipe wrench, going to go to a smaller one now that it is starting to come loose.
ALright, studs will come out then, I'll go ahead and order 4 new ones, possibly just to have extras.
Installation of studs? These aren't arp studs so I'm guessing pipe wrench to put them on too?
Bottom pulled. Put the bottle jack and pushed the knuckle as far up as it would go, put a scissor jack between the axle and the steering arms and removed the bottle jack. Tried hitting the knuckle down and no joy.
I thought about taking the studs out, trust me. It's just getting new ones to replace them with.
I've been soaking the top for days with kroil, pb, blood, sweat, you name it
Tried the method of smacking it on the top arm, nothing, just going to end up breaking it.
Already have one of the studs stripped, and the split dowels is on the left side of the top plate.
Love the truck but according to the wife it is fixing to go for pennies because of this.
Alright, day 3 of trying to get the passenger side off and nothing, all I'm doing is just beating the arm, damaging the plate between the knuckle and the hydraulic arm on the top, and pissing myself off.
I have spent more in tools to "help" aid this then in actual parts for the project.
Tried...
I found with it in the off position it still feeds to the batteries, disconnecting it also removes the front lights out of the system, and disconnects from the batteries. Trying to charge a 24v system with a 12-16 gauge wire is a very bad idea.
I made a cable to use the lights on the towed vehicle but you have to disconnect the turn signal lever or bad things will happen.
I made mine to be 50 feet. I also found if you disconnected the actual light three lever box it works a little better and your not providing power to the batteries...
I'm almost to that conclusion.
I've been beating, heating, beating this d**m knuckle for a couple hours and all I've done is mar the arm on the knuckle and the bolt hole.
I managed to get two of the bushings out but two remain and refuse to budge.
I'm aggravated, wife is aggravated, I'm...
So my truck is fighting me every step of the way.
Still trying to get the passenger side knuckle off and now this happened. Alternating between sides trying to get the knuckle to break loose and the two bolt holes on the side, one smashed in.
It's a 250, 2200 lbs is awfully heavy for these. Mine comes in around 800-900 lbs striped empty.
1200 lbs of equipment inside is possible but I highly doubt it.
The place where I got mine in VA had one that still had all the tele-type equipment inside, talk about drool.
