you will want to use a modern 15W-40 Diesel engine oil. You can use a Diesel 30W, but make sure its Diesel rated!!!!! If you plan on driving your deuce in the winter DO NOT use a 30W, use the 15W-40.The spin on filters take about 10 min to install on a bad day.

no it hooks to the column... shift the truck from park to drive and you will see the column rotates. where that wire is hanging right now in the pic is where it clips on to. well close to it... you will need to find the correct place to slip it on. Its not that hard man trust me.
it sounds like the temp sending unit, also make sure the glow plugs are good and if you have not replaced in the last couple years its time to do it again.
