my cucv has a banks kit on it and has no wastegate. if the turbo is sized correctly you cant make too much boost. my engine will melt before it would make a harmful amount of boost.
I agree with decodeme on this one, sounds like you have a bumb switch. to get to the switch you need to pull the steering wheel off. get a puller kit from the local parts store. makes life much easier.
hoot is right, you can get a turbo setup from a 6.5L and it will bolt right up. there are a few modifications that you would have to make, like adding a electric fuel pump, since you won't be able to keep the mechanical one on the side of the block. and you would have to have the downpipe...
congrads on the new purchase. I'm sure someone with contact info will post up.
Is your dash just really faded, or is it all cracked up. If its just faded you can do what i did and get the vinyl dye in a spray can and dye it, mine turned out great.
you cant get them from the local parts store. but they are the same springs put in all the 3/4ton diesel blazers (they are not cucv specific)
I'm sure that there must be a spring shop somewhere near you. They should be able to build you a set of springs. If not you can order the springs and...
RE: red wire versus the purple wire
the purple wire is 24V. it feeds the starter solenoid.
the red wire simply provides the 12v to allow the magnetic coil inside the relay to be energized, thus completing the 24v circuit and sending power to the starter solenoid.
RE: The truck is running again!
the purple is the wire going from the relay to the starter, that is the wire you need to switch to be able to save the starter. Must be a heavy duty switch, due to the current that goes through the circuit while the starter is engaged.
you want to get dielectric silicone, you can get it at a electrical supply store. it blocks the oxygen that causes the corrosion.
I just replaced a 6TL battery in the cucv that grounded itself internally. the battery was manufactured in 1991. the other batt is still going strong and tested to...
its not a regular wire, its supposed to do that.
the fusible links allow higher amps for a short amount of time, so in the event you have a high draw when you turn something on, the fusible link will not blow like a fuse would.
