1,000gal of water would be 8,600lbs. That's below the rated cargo cap. of the truck (10,000lbs on-road).
That being said, I mostly move it with it empty.
As far as I know the lever type is still legal. Our insurance company doesn't like them though. We were urged by them to swap over to the screw type but it was just a suggestion. We have some screw type but still use the lever type mostly.
I'm in the rigging business also and this info is wrong about why cranes use a spreader beam. As you can see in the pic of the post, without a spreader beam the rigging would damage the load because the angles will cause the rigging to pull into the load. This is the sole purpose of a spreader...
Kenny, that's pretty slick but the problem I have with it is there is no protection for the workings of that thing. I couldn't imagine it would last very long in the mud and grime.
It does give some good ideas to build on though.
I've been thinking about a idea in my head and wanted to run it by y'all.
I've always wanted a camper on the back of my deuce but don't really want a dedicated camper like a M109. I've also got a 1,000gal skid mounted tank that would come in handy if I had a easy way to load/unload it.
The...
Got the end installed on the winch cable today. Wasn't too bad. Probably took me about an hour though to get everything fitted together just right. I downloaded the PDF instructions from the Esmet site and followed them. You don't need the special tools they list though. I just clamped the cable...
To those that have advocated heating the cans I would like to add a word of caution to people reading this thread. A little heat works good but don't over do it. The can will explode if heated too much.
WARNING DO NOT DO THIS- As a kid we used to throw used spray cans into a fire to watch them...
You might try to put the cover back on and start the truck. Chances are that if it's in the clutch assembly somewhere, it will sling it out and you find it laying in the bottom of the bellhousing again.
There's also a chance that it could damage something doing this if it's in a bad spot but if...
Sometimes search is not your friend. :)
All joking aside, I've already stated my feelings on this issue and do not wish to re-hash the debate. Best thing to do is read all the opinions and decide for yourself what to use.
The spraying can be a problem but it's the nature of the paint. Most spray cans you buy at stores are very "watered down". That is why spray can paint generally doesn't hold up as well as other paint. The Rapco cans are the exact same paint you get when you buy gallons and will hold up just as...
I would be concerned about E85 eating up the rubber parts in the fuel system. Some people my have tried it with good results but I'd shy away from it personally.
I've heard of people running WVO right out of the fryer in warm weather and heated in cooler weather. I haven't tried it though.
Looks like it would be a great truck to drive but I'd hate to have to maintain it. That ATC and RSC sounds like it could be a nightmare to maintain (violates the K.I.S.S. principle).
In the military and the civilian world you just can't get a simple vehicle anymore. Seems they want to "dummy...
Ok, I think I figured it out. I just gave scoutmanadam a positive for a deal we made. He should be now able to leave me feedback.
The way I did it was went back to one of my old adds that he and I made a deal on. It gave me the option to commit the item to him so I did that. It then gave me...
It came in today. Looks just like it should.
Now if somebody would come and install it on my wire rope I'll be set.
It looks like it's going to be quite a chore getting the strands around the plug and inside the socket. I'll report back how it works out.
It's completely different hauling something on a trailer and flat towing something. I've hauled a deuce on a gooseneck with my Dodge. I could travel hwy speeds and start and stop fine. I've also flat towed a deuce off-road with my Dodge. I can do it but you have to be slow and sometimes the the...
This doesn't sound like a steering box issue to me. There's nothing that I can think of in the box that would cause the steering wheel to jerk out of your hand. Did you bend your tie rod and got your toe-in off? Could also be a u-joint as Jeff said.
Jack it up and make sure everything moves freely.
