The TM's show a skid plate for the M880 series trucks.
I've had a few (ok, several) of these trucks over the last 6 years or so.
Never had or seen one with a skid plate / or signs of having had one. *
I've had an ad in the classifieds for a long time "Skid Plate wanted"
No real luck here, I did...
aahhh, hmmm, awe crap I gotta go count them now.
Just got back, 860mile round trip left @1am back at 6pm.
It's a M884:beer:
Do not put 8.75R16.5's on a M880 series, they are small and sure make the engine spin trying to go the speed limit.
North then West
I75 to US2 to 77 to 28 / 41 to US2 again
To Bessemer, MI
Will drive tonight to get there and the majority of the trip back will be daytime Sat.

I've been looking for a plow truck for some time {cheap}
Didn't want to put a plow on my M880
Ended up with this at auction
hoping to go get it Saturday. about 450 miles.
Last Summer, I did a phone interview with a free lance reporter for a paper in New Zealand regarding the invovlement of the MMMT-Michigan Museum of Military Transport in the Hillman, Michigan VJ Day celebration.
I asked how / why this little Northern Michigan town event was of interest "Down...
Here is a snowmobile map of the area.
Green is state land
Red is snowmobile only. (usually 50" max width)
This map shows roads but does not list if any are seasonal or not.
A vist to the local DNR office with that map should resovle if any are seasonal
On Huron National Forest land many of the...
He has it tucked up out of the way.
Good ponit about the moisture. Although closer to the tank for the air tools is better.
I have 4 deuces and none of them have a quick disconnect under the dash.
It is easy to install though.
Can't wait to see Bills install of this super duty receiver hitch ! (Curt part # 15605)
18,000 w/1,800lb tongue weight ain't your mamas 3,500-5,000lb hitch
Not complaining about the rules at all.
They are there due to a fear of being charged with collusion.
Posting coments about PMing people instead of posting could be considered collusion.
Where as posting about an upcoming auction would be considered as free advertisement.
Anyway:
as I said...
Kinda works the other way, you run the bid up and that would cut into the profit from a resale.
It really cracks me up that anyone believes an obscure post about a potential upcoming auction at an auction site that has it's ads on plastered every ficken page of this this forum Is going...
Not an M series.
Likely Air Force, they had tons of the crewcab short box trucks.
Front turn signals indicate 1978
lock out hubs not typically on a 78
IIRC the front axle the AF crew cabs would have been a Dana 60 vs the typical Dana 44
Any signs of Strata blue?
Interesting wheel...
When at operating temp the oil is at least 300°
while the coolant is half that
The oil is what is cooling the turbo down from the near 1200° exhaust temp some of us are pushing.
So I guess if that block heater is gonna get things that hot, maybe I don't want one. {Sarcasm Smilie here}
Check for loose grounds and wires.
A lot of Michiganders on here. Although West Michigan is a vague description of location, there may be someone here that is close and knows something about the CUCV's.
Also check out Great Lakes MVPA (link in my sig line) next meeting is 2-21 in St Louis...

wldrbob,
yes with an SAE bellhousing out of something like a C70 chevy.
the deuce gearing will not allow good fuel mileage with a BBC, but could handle 3000 RPM all day, unlike the LDT.
I put 1100R20 Michelin XL's on my M36A2, while the larger diameter gives me an extra 5 mph or so, the ride...
Details on the location would be nice.
Now us Northern Michigan types can handle the cold, but this location have a warming facility?
As we might just get a little cold & wet during a trail side field repair seminar. ;-)
