I can more than likely help you out. Just sold a set of front springs that would be good for this. I may still have a lead on some M105 springs.
I've got a complete welding shop and have helped bob a couple of trucks.
It's not too bad if you go with a M105 bed and don't lift the truck. Lifts...
One thing to consider is that there are a few parts on a A3 that were never on any other vehicle. Some of these A3 specific parts can be very hard to find and when found can cost a fortune.
The plus side is these parts are few.
The last engine I sold was for $700. The last trans I sold was for $350. I think $700 is a good deal for both.
I wouldn't be too crazy over that 1,500 mile figure though. You can't depend on what the gauges say in these old trucks.
My truck will smoke more with oil added in the mix. I tend to believe that running WMO isn't as clean as diesel. I tend not to worry about it too much though.
I got a quote of $140 each for 6TLs. If the $95 price is for 6TLs I'd jump on it. I ended up going with a group 31 because there's no way I'm paying $140 if I can find a battery with the same specs for $80.
I've had real good luck with Interstate. I don't know how good there warranty is though...
While a lot of this is news to me, this post makes the most sense to me. Although I wonder if you'd ever notice it in something like a deuce. I've seen the drag cars frame twist when they take off but the power to weight ratio is a hole lot different than a deuce.
My line of thinking also...
Bighurt, You need to go back and re-read my post. I said it's definitely not a "American General" (the name the OP used). They sell insurance and don't build trucks. :D
The other post you're refering to is the "lot" numbers (as David Doyle calls them). The truck in question has a "05" lot...
I've also found it's a good idea to keep a extra light switch on board. If that switch goes out (especially at night) you could be in big trouble. It's not something you're going to find at any of the auto stores. If you're using a push button switch this is a must.
I don't know who make your truck but I know for sure it wasn't Volvo or American General.
If you post or PM me your VIN I might could tell. If the first two VIN numbers are "06" or greater it's for sure a AM General. "05" trucks can either be Kaiser-Jeep, General Products Division, or AM...
It could cause the smoke if the fuel wasn't turned down when the FDC was bypassed. If it's smoking a lot you could be getting too much fuel which will result in dangerously high EGT. Might want to get a pyrometer before you burn the engine up.
The individual agencies are the ones actually selling the items. I think GD charges a flat 7% fee for listing items. It's kind of like ebay for government agencies. I highly doubt GD is running up the bid but I wouldn't put it past some of the agencies.
That sounds exactly like what I'm experiencing. Looks like I'm going to have to replace the seal. How hard was it? I just got the winch put on it and I'm hoping I can get to it without pulling it off.
The flame heater has been disconnected. The engine is spotless from the oil pan up. It's...
