    Mysterious brake fluid loss

You don't have a buddy paying tricks on you do you? This kind of reminds me of two local farmers. They were both farmers and like most farmers, monitored their rain gages every time it rained. One of them played a trick on the other. Every time it rained he would go over to the other farmers...

Fuel Cutoffs, PTOs, and other confusing things

You have three types of PTOs found on deuces. One is the trans PTO for the winch. It faces toward the front to drive the winch. Two is the accessory drive. It bolts onto the back of the trans PTO to give you a rear output. Found on dump trucks to power the hyd pump. Three is the transfer...

5-ton front fender longer than deuce?

People in this thread have already put more thought into the fender placement than the military did. IMO they built the "meat" of the truck and then slapped some fenders on there that covered the tires. If you think the military cares anything about looks, all I have to say is one word...

    Mysterious brake fluid loss

If you're loosing that much fluid and you can't see it leaking anywhere, it's got to be the airpack.

How much should I offer for this Deuce?

If you buy it, I'll give you $300 for the PTO.

    Detroit Diesel 6V-71

Having delt with flooded vehicles from the Nashville flood, I will say the engine (and everything else on the bus) is pretty much junk unless it was cleaned out good shortly after the flood. I would still be interested if it's a freebee. I have the means to move it.

How much should I offer for this Deuce?

Shoot, you all are way off. I'd give him $1,000 in a heartbeat if it was close to me.

    help on my dump Deuce

My hoist came off a old grain truck. I've helped the guy out at the junk yard in the past so he gave it to me for free. I fabbed my own hinges because I wanted to retain my bumperettes and hitch.

Dyed Diesel / off road fuel.......

On running ATF, an enforcement officer told me one time that if he "stuck" the tank and it came up red you were getting a ticket. It would be up to you to explain in court that it was ATF instead of dyed fuel.

Dyed Diesel / off road fuel.......

:ditto: You can run dyed diesel in any diesel engine built before 2007. It is illegal though and big fines if you're caught. That's why it's dyed, so they will know if you run it for road use.

    shopping for a snatch block

Rick, think about what the hook of the snach block is hooked to that you are trying to move. If you agree that you can pull 20,000lb with using a snach block you can't look past the fact that there will be 20,000lb on the snatch block hook. If you are pulling 20,000lb there will be a 20,000lb...

    Detroit Diesel 6V-71

Don't know the torque specs off the top of my head but they have pretty good torque if you keep them wound up. Detroits don't like low RPMs. Detroits are generally good engines if you don't mind the oil leaks.

    shopping for a snatch block

But would you agree that, with a 10,000lb winch and using the snatch block to double the pulling force, you will have 20,000lb on the block itself? I have not been around towing as much as I have lifting. I know the lifting blocks are rated for what they will accually hold and not the line...

    M35A2 Oil pan replacement help

$2,000 sounds like a good price unless it's a complete junker. I don't know right off hand where to get a oil pan but they shouldn't be too hard to find.

    Transfer Case PTO

The power divider on the wreckers powers a hyd pump for the crane and also sends power to the back for the rear winch. It would give you two outputs off of the t-case pto. I don't really know what I'd need two outputs for but it opens up alot of options.

    Shackle Pin Grease Problem

Here's what I did one time. I had an old small hyd cylinder. I took the cylinder and packed one side of the piston full of grease. Then I hooked the other side up to my porta power. Hooked the other end (with the grease) to the fitting. Pump it up and I've yet to see a joint that won't take the...

Deuce winch wire rope termination ends source.

54reo, I'm wondering if you still have a source for these. I'm in need of one.

2 month old split axle boots

The main problem is not the zipper on the zipper boots. It's the material the "rubber" is made of. The non-zipper boots that aren't silicone are just as bad. I just wish they would make a silicone zipper boot. I can get green silicone boots if you don't like the yellow.

    cheap turbo gaugues on eBay?

I have to agree with what others have said. I pyro is not something to go cheap on. Your turbo could eat the probe or it could not be accurate and you burn up your engine.

Turned up the injection pump this morning.....

The best way is to just drill and tap a hole right above the turbo. I drilled and tapped mine with the engine running to keep shavings blown out of the hole and not down inside the turbo. It worked great.
