Here's a pic of my latest dump project. On this one I used a civilain dump bed and trans PTO to run the pump. After my failed attempt to fip the PTO and to find a reasonably priced accessory drive, I ended up mounting the pump in front of the PTO. The pump is mounted beside the engine under the...
There will be no way to tie them down inside the box. Sure, most of them have rails inside for securing mattresses and such but there is no way it would hold a M101.
Why wouldn't you drill and tap the manifold? I'll admit I'm not too familiar with the GM diesels but I've never seen an engine where this would be a problem. You really need the probe to be installed pre-turbo to get an accurate reading.
I wouldn't worry with flipping the lunette just to tow it home. They can be a real pain to flip and it's not something I'd want to be doing on the GL lot. They pull fine empty without flipping it.
I've got a set I'd let go. Shipping is going to cost a bundle though. I haven't weighed them but they are heavy. I'm going to guess around 100lb per side. PM me if interested.
Sherwin Williams accually makes the CARC paint that the military uses. I've been told that you can order it from their stores. I still prefer the Rapco paint though. Not as hazardous, goes on better, and holds up better IMO.
Here's the conclusion I've come to. There are two ways to make the shaft point toward the rear.
One is to use a 5-ton shaft (like Gringeltaube has said) and accually put the PTO on upside-down.
The other is to turn the output shaft around where it comes out the back of the PTO. You have to...
What I'd do is get a PTO coupler like is on farm equipment (to connect it to the tractor). You just push a button and slide the shaft on and off.
Either that or rig it up where the pump stays on the truck and you just add quick couplers to the hyd lines.
I also run farm tags. This allows you to do more legally than you can with antique tags. Cops don't bother farmers as much as they do other people so that's a plus also.
I do own a farm and use the deuce for farm use but you don't have to accually own a farm to run them (atleast they don't ask...
He got some in prison and others in bars.
Back OT. How much oil are we talking about? It's normal for the multifuel to slober a little oil out tha exhaust if run without a load on it.
If I were doing this swap I'd either go with a GM 366 or 427. The 366 is the staple gas engine used in older (non fuel injected) GM 2-ton trucks. It has alot of low end torque needed to get bigger trucks moving but it's a fairly low RPM engine.
