I've been to some bases where they watch your every move. I've also been to some that I'll bet you you could get into a truck, fire it up, and drive off of base without anybody batting an eye.
I won't metion which base it is (don't want to give anybody any ideas) but I was previewing trucks...
As said above, the gears don't look like they will mate up to the deuce trans.
Chelsea did make a PTO that fit the deuce trans but I don't remember the number.
:ditto:
You can spend alot of time and money (synthetics aren't cheap) trying to find a "better" oil when these things have been running for 50 years with good old GL-1 in them.
Some people say GL-1 is hard to find but my local Co-op keeps a pallet of it on hand. Mainly because lots of old...
If you're not getting water in the oil, oil in the water, lots of white smoke out of the exhaust, or have something visibly leaking from the gasket area I'd say that more than likely your head gasket is ok.
When you "crack" a injector line it will only effect the injector you're working on.
For a diesel to run all it needs is air, compression, and fuel. Of course this all has to happen in the correct sequence (that's where the timing comes in). If it were mine I'd check the timing. If that...
The difference is that NAPA caters more to the people that accually know how to do their own repairs and modifications.
Orielly's, Auto Zone, etc cater more to the people that are trying to learn how to work on their own stuff. Unless you have a standard production passenger vehicle they are...
IMO the problem with the multifuel holding up to high HP is the high compression. The first thing I would do to get more power out of it would be to lower the compression. In doing that you will take some pressure off of the rods, lower EGT, and would allow you to increase fuel/boost pressures...
That stuff is a mess. I tried to remove some when I was welding on my bed for my dump conversion. Don't really know the best way to get it off to paint. I'm going to say it's going to take some sort of solvent to get it all off.
I'll tell you what not to do. Don't even try a wire wheel on a...
I doubt the shaft or drum is bent. The winch has many more weak links that would fail before the shaft or drum did. With all that said, the military has been known to tear up a anvil with a rubber mallet so I guess it could happen. More than likely the shaft has rusted and it's just stuck...
I know a M871 can't be pulled with a commercial (civilain) truck. The neck is too high and the frame will drag the ground unless you raise the truck's 5th wheel or shorten the neck of the trailer. We use a M871 with civilain trucks but the neck has been shortened to match the civilain truck's...
While that turbo is nasty, If it's still spinning freely I don't think that's your whole problem. Have you checked your muffler? If the turbo looks like that there's a pretty good chance the muffler is plugged also. Maybe even the manifold and or even the combustion chamber.
What mixture of...
This comment got me to thinking. Nowdays it's hard to imagine a world without silicone. Works for everything from gasket maker to roof leak fixer to boat leak fixer. That stuff will seal just about any low pressure application if the surface is cleaned good and hold up really well. I dare to say...
Would there be any reason that the IP timing could have got off? There is no way you EGT should be 600deg at idle. Sounds like you're getting plenty of fuel. With hard starting and low power your timing could be off. I've never been into a multifuel IP so I don't know if anything internal could...
I'm having that same issue with a winch I'm rebuilding. Trying to get to the bottom with what's going on (I've got it all back apart). Here's a link to the thread https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/winch-assembly-problem.51464/
Just clean all the grease off of the keyway and fill it with silicone sealant. That's what I always do and seems to hold better than the stock cork plug,
