    Questions... M275 or...?

I like the way the truck looks. Sure, it's not a stock truck by a long shot but it sure is original. It still looks better than an A3 (got to give the A3 guys heck every chance I get because I can't afford one). If it were mine I'd keep the truck as is and drive the heck out of it.

    Timkin rears

I've got a tank if you need one ( it sure looks like you do ).

    Timkin rears

I think I recall a older thread that said some of the small brake parts were different also.

Best Tractor Trailer Combo for Tank

No, it wouldn't eliminate the need for overweight permits. You can't go over 80,000lbs gross no matter how many axles you have. So unless you can find a haul vehicle that weighs less than 13,000lbs (ain't going to happen) you'll be overwieght.

Best Tractor Trailer Combo for Tank

WM, the only problem with that is you'll have to go full blown commercial. That would include CDL, health card, safety records, drug testing for any and all drivers, USDOT number, log books, and fuel permits for every state you travel in (unless you go with apportioned tags, then you'll have to...

CARC paint;how to remove-yet another question...

I've removed a bunch of CARC and I haven't found a "easy" way yet. Seems CARC has some characteristics where it will fall off in sheets in some spots and then hold on for dear life in others. Makes for a heck of a time trying to make a smooth paint job unless you take it all off.

Best Tractor Trailer Combo for Tank

It is impossible to haul a 77,000lb tank and be legal without overweight permits. You're going to be grossing atleast 100,000lbs+ with the lightest truck you can find that will handle that kind of weight. Like WM said, unless you're moving the tank a bunch it's going to be cheaper to hire it...

    GAA Grease

Might want to check into John Deere corn head grease for steering knuckles. It's a grade #0 and is semi-fluid grease. It can be found at almost any JD dealer. They say it's also good for any slow speed gearbox. I'm rebuilding a winch right now and am thinking about using corn head grease in it...

Putting yr deuce in a trk pull

I used to pull tractors so I'm pretty familiar with what it takes to get to the end of the track. If I was going to build a strickly pulling truck I'd bob it and drop in a Cummins. That would let you get the weight down so you could enter the regular classes. The highest weight truck class is...

How about public introductions BEFORE buying from the classifieds?

I don't think you even have to be a member to read the classifieds. You may have to be a member to get your e-mail address (unless it's posted in the add), I don't know.

    Toooo much information.

Putting yr deuce in a trk pull

Just don't do alot of jerking and snatching and you should be fine. Sometimes they will have the track too hard and your truck will start hoping. If this happens let out of it immediately if you want to save your driveline. You may also have issues with your hitch height. Most pulls have a max...

    Making a m101a2 dump

I haven't got my M101A2 yet (still waiting on EUC) so I have no firsthand experience on this. From what I understand you have to lock the trailer brakes and then back up to get them to dump. I've heard of people having brake line issues when dumping. I'd say a section of brake hose is needed...

    Where to get CARC

I've touched up several spots on my truck with Gillespie 383 green. It doesn't match perfect but I think it's mainly because the CARC is faded. It's pretty close though. I , personally, would think long and hard about using real CARC at $200 a gallon. Two spraycans (maybe three if you count...

New Style Air Brake Switch issue. Air Pack stuck?

Seems to me if that was the case your brakes would be locked up.

one pallet from FL to CA

Kenny, You may could find a smaller pallet or make one out of some old 2X4s. I'm thinking you'll have alot of room to spare on a standard pallet. Could save some money on the dimensions.

one pallet from FL to CA

I was trying to get some freight quotes on some stuff awhile back and they all wanted to know the "freight class". I had no idea what they were talking about. Now I know :D.

    Started my dump conversion

Not really. It's just been something I've been wanting to do for atleast a couple of years. We were slow at my place of business last week so that's when most of the project got done. I did all the layout work and all the mechanical but one of my empoyees did 90% of the welding. He loves to...

    Lets see your DEUCE!

Westech, You're in the "danger" zone . You're also running low on fuel. Here's one of mine.

    Ebay claims again-wow

:ditto: He has done alot of work to the truck. Now the argument can be made that the work he has done made the truck worse instead of better. Before I sank 30K into a deuce trying to "beef it up", I'd just buy a 5-ton and be done with it. I'd say that truck is worth about $1,000. IMO the...
