I tried using 2-ton and 3-ton jackstands to hold up my M725 when the wheels were off. I came home from work one day and I found -725 on the ground, two of the jackstands had folded over, and the emergency cinder blocks had broken into pieces. I have a set of 5-ton jackstands out there now...
That wouldn't help - it's a GL concern about liability of a private buyer driving a boneyard vehicle on post. Some GL people don't care, some really have a problem with it.
There are other reasons why they don't like folks driving M35s around the DRMO lot. Ask FerroEquinologist all about it...
Lucky indeed - most of us are unable to get permission to drive our used beat-up deuces off the GL lot to get them home, much less being able to drive a brand new HET around the lot!
WE NEED VIDEO!
Nope. It's a M113 Lynx, basically a stripped down M113 with a shorter hull used for recon. You can tell by the angular hull up front, the M114 has a flat facia plate.
RE: Been a long time since I
The good thing about a M35/M151 combo is you can park the jeep in the bed of the truck and haul it around, no towbar required!
I always liked the M151 jeeps. Am glad a few have survived in the service till this day, almost after 50 years of service, that ain't bad!
Just curiousity - I ask about a lot of trucks I have no intention of buying. It helps me learn about the trucks, about the sellers/companies, and about the whole process that is done to these trucks during rebuild.
After all, I don't want a job in Personnel Management the rest of my life...
Only places I know that might have them are as follows:
eBay UserID beltfed34, aka Austin Weber
Sarco Inc. in NJ, www.sarcoinc.com
BMG Parts, www.bmgparts.com
I'm just telling you what the Oshkosh person on eGay told me, that the entire truck had been rebuilt down to depot level. Truck was used, but rebuilt to like new specs.
I wouldn't pay $72,000 for it, even if I had $72,000 sitting around.
I have a short heavy (non-expanding) that I would like to trade for a medium. Tell you the truth, I'd be willing to trade two of these heavies for one medium.
The price on the M911 was around $72,000 or so. It's high, but it has been rebuilt to like new condition. Try buying a new M911 for anything less than $250,000. At least, that's my reasoning.
Rip it out and sell that cluster to the guys who restore HMMWVs. It goes well on those rigs, but I think it looks crappy on such a historic looking vehicle as the M35.
