    m1009 manual glow plug switch

A bit of personal trial and error may be needed for your use(to "perfect" the guessing game of manual control). There is a difference between starting and optimal starting.

Also, a controller continues to energize them after it has started. This is called after glow. It helps.

    m1009 manual glow plug switch

Yes, somewhat. If your engine temp is around 150 or higher, you should not need them at all. Outside temp below freezing, maybe go more seconds. All this also depends on which GPs your using, what battery voltage you supply and your engine condition. A working controller card is my preference.

    Boost issues?

You should not be exceeding 15 lbs of boost. More will definitely over temp. Also, once you think you have it set where you like it, if you load the truck or drive up a big long hill, it will be too high in that case. The fuel rate is load dependent and will vary. 10-12 psi is pretty safe...

    Glow Plug Wiring Mess

Better determine if your GP relay is correct before proceeding.(isolated ground) Better be sure it still gets power on the small red wire when the key is on. If so, then eliminate the homemade wiring and proceed with a pushbutton connected to the light blue wire and ground(as prescribed)...
