Can the Gov't confiscate a vehicle after the sale? Putting that fear mongering to bed

A couple of M934A2s came out before they were supposed to and were requested back. Some M1102 chassis came out with sensitive items and were recalled. Request letters came out for some of the HEMTTs. Like you, I don't lose any sleep over it. Probability approaches zero that it's going to...

    M808/ m818

The exhaust brakes are rpm dependant. Jake's are quite a bit better. That said, I have an exhaust brake on my diesel pickup and like it a lot.

Opinion needed for 1st drive home

Emphatically this. Once its home in your driveway is the time to begin tampering with it, with full support infrastructure and tools and other vehicles. As someone said - "every simple 20 minute job is but one snapped off bolt from becoming a three day ordeal."

Need advice on item pickup at Camp Lejeune

Check with bikeman. He's in the area and has grabbed stuff for me.

    GL Lost Surplus Contract

There's plenty of good blacksmith shops. They've changed from a business model of "repair and fab" to a business model of "cottage industry making high end artwork using the old methods" and getting top dollar for their work.... But I get your point. I often describe what I do with milsurp as...

    GL Lost Surplus Contract

GP is literally getting twice as much for them "wholesale" as I do retail. I have gotten out of the habit of looking at the auctions. I haven't looked since I bought the welder a few months ago. Judging from the fact that the stuff is still selling, enough people are looking (and bidding)...

    Buyer's checklist and questions...

If you don't need a top speed above 55ish, the 3spd is fine. The 4L80 brings with it a large premium in cost. That said, if you *do* need a top speed above 55 or so, it's better to start off with the 4spd rather than try to add it later. 6.2 vs 6.5. They're all gutless turds. Before paying...

Difference between M988 and the M998A1

No argument. He specifically asked about the interior differences between an m998 hmmwv and a civvy H1. Apples have thin peel and can be eaten with the peel intact. Oranges have thick peel and generally can't.....

Difference between M988 and the M998A1

The one I parked next to had a completely different interior than my HMMWV.

Any shop in Dallas, TX doing cummins swap

If you're going to that much trouble, consider a 6.7 liter Cummins and a G56 transmission. (No idea on any shops....)

So I can use the CO2 tank as a backup air source ?

And about 79% by volume in the air you breathe.... The difference is C02 makes a weak acid when exposed to water. You don't generally want high concentrations of it around anything sensitive for long periods.

    Military Generator/HVAC Trailer Identification

I have this same unit. Suggestion- hold the start switch in the start position several seconds after it has begun to run. (The starter wont grind - itllncut itself out once its running)

    M931a1 Alabama checking in!

I like it! 5th wheel should be plentiful. Market value $200ish or you may find someone converting to a flatbed willing to just give one away.

    2.5 or 5 ton truck?

The tractor is the best to build from in my opinion, due to the short frame. I like having the air brake control too. And the twin tanks... and it fits in a normal parking place. The tractor variants are not much less nimble than a longbed dually pickup. The difference in maneuverability...

    M105a2 advise

And this happens with absolutely no warning. It goes from no wiggle at all to thrashing side to side trying to snap your hitch instantly. I'm not the most cautious, but I wouldn't tow double 105s...

    Prepping Deuce for paint

An angle grinder with a wire brush in place of the grinding wheel is something else I find highly useful when prepping trucks for paint

    Prepping Deuce for paint

Media - I used just garden variety playground sand. This is NOT a recommended practice as the risk of silicosis is much higher, and it also doesn't cut nearly as well as the purpose built abrasive agents. But it matched what was already on the ground, was cheap, and readily available.

    2.5 or 5 ton truck?

M54 m809 and m35 canlb dimensions are the same. M939 is a little larger inside. I'm 6'2" and I find the clutch pedal decidedly awkward in the 809s. Lockers on the front - a Detroit locker in the rears will occasionally get you a chirp of the tires on tight turns and will wear everything...

    Prepping Deuce for paint

I've used that sprayer also, painting a buddy's deuce. Works just fine. N95 masks are what we use for staff protection treating active tuberculosis patients. Properly fit, it should be adequate for any kind of particulate.
