Thinner rod for thinner materials. 3/32" 6010 rod can be used on some pretty thin steel, and can also be used on thicker stuff with multiple passes.

I went to test drive a pretty good looking M1008. Jumped it and got it running. Drove it about a mile down the road and it died, showing 3/4 of a tank. Poured abut 10 gal of diesel in it and tried to restart it. Starter bolts snapped off in the block.
And to think I was considering driving it...
Time it right and we can hook up in KS or OK and drive the rest of the way back following one another. I'll be fully equipped with everything from towbars to impact wrenches and slave cables.
The 8.3 looks quite a bit bigger than the 6.7, which is similar to the 5.9.
That being said, I had a guy buy an 8.3 from me and cram it into a dodge truck....
I had an M923A2 sandblasted to bare steel and repainted with milspec CARC. Work was performed by H&H exotic coatings in Tulsa. Total cost was under $3k. It took 4 gallons of CARC.
I'm a fan of the truck tractors + bed. Like a bobber without giving up 6x6 or cutting on the truck.
I like to use cut down 5ton dropside beds, or deuce beds.
As far as GVWR, they're going to stick you with whatever they feel like at the time. The pintle hitch on the back gives you an easy 15k...

I use a Miller Big Blue 400 Diesel Welder/ 15kw genset, but my needs may be different from yours.
Making a cable is a trivial exercise. You can do it yourself in 15minutes. The problem is that there's nothing to prevent you from making an adapter that will allow you to connect two incompatible circuits....
Payment is easier with GL - it takes care of itself. With GP you have to do the wire transfer thing.
Pickup is easier with GP - call the site and then show up with tje release code. With GL you have to jump through hoops to use the online scheduler and then have a physical copy of the invoice...
Inexplicable fuel leak between the two halves of this piece. I was thinking the O ring wasn't properly seated. I cleaned and reassembled it, ensuring that the O ring properly seated. Upon starting the truck the leak was back in full force, spraying.
I almost think there should be a gasket...
