    Shout out to Gunzy

I don't claim to be an expert, but if the front wheels can't turn to follow the tow vehicle, you pull them sideways.. My understanding is more pressure in the front tires makes it track better.

    Shout out to Gunzy

Towed truck is driverless. Steering wheel is unlocked and untied. It should follow you like a persistent tailgater. I've flat towed everything from cucv to an m934 in the past year or so, probably 7000 miles....

Why not tinted monstaliner on exterior?

Rustoleum rattlecan. Cheap, and easy to touch up.... (no, not durable, but the carc is intact under it and the carc *is* durable)

Well, I won the M934A2 I was bidding on!!

I've done that a bunch. When i plan it ahead of time I put a complete futon and mattress in the back under the cargo cover. Your M934A2 should be even better...

Well, I won the M934A2 I was bidding on!!

You shouldn't have to tweak anything to run those speeds with 395's. Braking from 60mph is fine with the stock brakes. The 395's are close enough to the 14's that I seriously doubt there's a noticeable difference. 395's are just easier to get newer production tires.

M989A1 Heavy Expanded Mobility Ammunition Trailer towing question

3500s pull 30k all the time and people live to tell about it. Bigger is of course better of course, but get the 989 on a trailer with brakes and is should be ok. ...

M989A1 Heavy Expanded Mobility Ammunition Trailer towing question

Yes absolutely! 11,000 lbs with trailer brakes and with weight transferred to the tow vehicle is a different game entirely. It's the lack of weight transfer that's really the killer, even beyond the unbraked 11k.

    questions about m923a1

That isn't my truck so I don't have firsthand info. My understanding is that it's pretty much indistinguishable from the 14's. 46" vs 48".

M989A1 Heavy Expanded Mobility Ammunition Trailer towing question

You have to cage the brakes. Don't do it. Don't even consider it. Your pickup truck will likely pull it just fine. You won't be able to stop. The M989A1 won't transfer any weight to the tongue. You'll have the same amount of traction as you do empty. that trailer will push you everywhere...

    questions about m923a1

There's no question that super singles are better off road. G177s are an extremely capable tire by any reasonable measure. 42" with aggressive tread. The thing about duals off road is you can get fist sized rocks between the duals and tear up a sidewall. Any choice is a compromise. For use...

    Wheels

These :) In all seriousness, the aluminum MRAP rims seem to be the number 1 choice. There's a few different styles of them and I'm not aware of any reason to prefer one style over the others. I've got some pictures of aluminum mrap rims with 395's mounted on M35A2s if you want them....

    questions about m923a1

Sure, switching from g177s to super singles is easy. Lindsey's truck pictured earlier in this thread was changed from G177s to super singles. The advantage to the dual g177s is that you have 5 spares instead of one, and you don't have to immediately change a flat on the rear axles. The...

    questions about m923a1

Tires and spare carrier - the A1 has super singles and spare carrier dimensioned for them. The "A0" has G177s dualled on the back and spare carrier dimensioned accordingly. A2 is the A1 + 8.3 turbodiesel and CTIS.

Towing a commercial trailer with an M-series 5-Ton

M989A1. I've got one. I like it a lot. I towed it with an M35A2C 1260 miles. Cruising 53mph. I tow it with the 5ton. I've even towed it (off road and brakes caged), with a 1ton Ram. Not recommended. Do not even consider backing it. As to towing heavy weights with the NH250. If you...

    questions about m923a1

I generally prefer a manual transmission. That being said, I prefer the 939series over the M35. Brakes, power, and cruising speed. Cruising speed is resolved on the M35 by MRAP rims. Power isn't that big of a deal since they're all gutless turds anyway. Brakes are a big deal, and not easily...

    Issues with SF-97

Waiting for one on an M989A1 since May. And a truck since July. The wait killed a deal on the M989A1. Truck sale is pending receipt of title, we'll see if that one happens. (I don't post anything for sale until I have titles, these sales happened without actively looking for them)

    questions about m923a1

If you pay to have your truck worked on, you'll rapidly spend more on that than you do on truck acquisition. These are straightforward enough that you want to learn to do most of it yourself. Towing - call a buddy with another 5ton and towbars. Bribe him with food. Or plan $650 or so per incident.

    questions about m923a1

**THIS** is what Lindsey97 is calling a $3500 truck. Everything works, it has about 1000 miles since last rebuild, no rust, and runs like a condemned soul escaping he'll. Oh, and he towed two other trucks at once with it, in Flint Hills.... I rate it closer to $7500....
