I'm in Tucson. (Well, I live in Tucson, currently I'm in Ft Riley KS retrieving some trucks).
I have some 5tons if you want to put eyes and hands on. I just sold a deuce about a month ago. My preference is for the 5tons, primarily due to the brake systems.
With GL's $25 minimum bid there was always at least some chance of getting something ridiculously cheap. (And I did, once...) except now GL has reserves on items that are frequently higher than you could expect to get for the items at retail. (Winches and ammo cans come to mind as a couple of...
. And I must say that CARC holds up well on the floor. I was surprised at the abrasion resistance of CARC.
I have painted over CARC, and then decided to redo it and sandblasted the new paint without damage to the underlying CARC.....
Not really. I was fabbing bumpers for M1009s and it's one of the designs I looked at.
I'd do it simply - 6x6 square tubing, with a 2" receiver as high as you can get it without interference with the tailgate, OEM shackle mounts or shackle mounts from a 5ton truck, tire carrier as pictured...
Do black last. That way the over spray just darkens the other colors.
Don't tape anything off. The inevitable over spray blurs the edges and blends it nicely.
Chalk it if you want, but as stated above you can just eyeball it and get very satisfying results.
I just sold a 8.3 replacement block to one of the tractor pull guys. He said he was getting right at 1000HP/2200TQ out of his.... (of course his last block came apart right at the cam...)
If an engine swap is the plan, then a big cam 855 seems like the obvious choice.
Except as is noted...
You can't really turn up the NH250 very much at all without risking badness.
If you want a gutless turd that just crawls up steep hills even when empty, the NH250 is for you.
If you want a bulletproof engine that will live forever, the NH250 is also for you. Despite my first comment, I really...
Probably 40 west. I now have a load I need to drop in Socorro NM.
Thanks
Edit - I'm now loaded with an M105A2, M1101, ford Ranger, pallet of MRAP rims and tires, 10 G177s, a transmission if the EUC clears in time, and a dead 5ton truck on towbars.....(not all at the same time thankfully). my...
I'm going to fly there and pick up a truck and drive back this way. Timeframe is next week.
I'd really like to be able to fill it up in exchange for some fuel $$. I'm not a commercial carrier so I don't expect commercial rates...
Anything that fits, up to and including another 5ton truck...
So, enlighten me. Until GP got the contract, witnessed mutilation that left nothing useable was the requirement. How did useable material find its way into the wrecking yard?
The override on the dash sends pressurized air to the emergency circuit and releases the springbrakes. Evidently yours aren't caged. I sent you some pics of caged brakes.
The park brake dump valve needs a look....
Not to be alarmist, but your truck really isn't safe to operate at this point.
When your park brake lever is in the park position the air should dump out of the emergency side of the brake system and your springbrakes should apply. The springbrakes are plenty to hold the truck by themselves (not saying you shouldn't fix your park brake as well, but you have not yet found...
