I want to replace the outer front tie rod ends that connect to the geared hub, but I'm not sure wether they are left or right hand threads, can anybody tell me for sure what thread direction they are? and if they are both the same direction of course
thanks in advance
I'm trying to find the correct rebuild kit for my '88 M998 alternator, it's the 60 amp model
I found 2 kits, both from Prestolite, 2920-01-168-4129 and 2920-01-168-4130, but have no idea which one I should get
Any advice would be appreciated!
Title is self explanatory, I’m gonna attach a couple of pictures.
vehicle is a 1988 M998 Humvee, 6.2L 3speeds.
the switch is right by the steering column, it’s a on-off toggle switch/breaker
I wanted to buy a brushguard for my Humvee, but since it can barely fit in my garage by itself, I don't want to buy it without knowing the precise width beforehand
Can anybody in here that owns one or has one on hand do me the favour of taking a precise measurament of said brushguard?
This is...
I have a 6.2 M998, previous owner thought that bypassing the thermostatic switch and replacing it with a common manual switch was a good idea, while also removing the thermostat
Now I’m working on re-installing everything back to factory spec, but I’m having a bit of a hard time understanding...
Started to do some research about said pitman arm, because it has some bad play that I wanna get rid of, and came across the mighty problem of "what's the right one for my vehicle"
I have a 1988 M998A0 (6.2L 3 speeds), I THINK that the correct one is NSN 2530012528362 but I'm not sure, I'm...
Title is pretty self explanatory, I'm about to do a re-seal of the output shafts for my M998 rear diff, do you have any advice that could make the job ever so slightly easier?
Thanks in advance, y'all are amazing and all the knowledge here is priceless
As the title says, I replaced my HMMWV halfshaft with 4 new GSP halfshafts (yes, Rockauto, I know)
I first replaced the front right one a couple of weeks back, took the humvee for multiple rides since then and it all went great
Then, I swapped the remaining 3, took her for a ride and at about...
As the title says, my rear righthand brake caliper started to leak, vehicle is a 1988 M998, which means I already have the "dual purpose" rear caliper, that function as service AND parking brake
I looked around, there are a couple of rebuild kit that include all the little internal seals...
Finally got my hands on a full set of 37s Goodyear Wrangler MT, as well as 24 bolt rims
The studs on the rim halves don't look super clean but they are not damaged, I tried cleaning them with one of those "stud cleaning brushes" that you can put on a power drill and they came out decent
All the...
So, I have all (or well, almost) the pieces to replace my lift pump on my '88 M998 6.2L, I read some general tips in this forum like the grease glob on the push rod to make it stay in place
I still have a couple of questions since it's gonna be my first time every replacing a lift pump in a...
So… after having some problems with oils in the geared hubs randomly rising above the fill plug after making sure that the levels were right, I stumbled upon a strange and possibly stupid thing done by the previous owner, which is what the title states
Now, could this be why the oil levels in...
I have a M998, 6.2L 3 speeds, today I decided to take her out for a drive, couple of hours long
then once I got back home, I checked all the fluids level
Went to pull out the transmission dipstick, and noticed that there was fluid way up the dipstick, almost like 10” above the checkered marks...
I'll soon change my TC fluid, I was scrolling through the lubrication order manual (LO 9-2320-280-12) and saw that it says to use Dexron 2 ATF, 3.5qts
But I've also seen people on this forum as well as on youtube say that it's recommended by GM to use manual transmission fluid
Is there a reason...
Just what the title says, I need to swap out a couple of halfshafts in my Humvee and found some civilian ones, are those the same? plus or minus the ABS ring of course
Also, for anyone who's interested, the input seal on the geared hub is a 2"x2.75"x0.5", or 2"x2 3/4"x1/2", double lip seal
I'm soon gonna replace the fuel filter in my M998, and I noticed that inside the filter itself, there's also a little white plastic cylinder with a fine net all round, which I suppose is the separator
Do I necessarily need to replace it with a new part as well or can I just take it just and...
Tried do to a bit of research but didn't really find a "complete" answer
I just got my hands on some 24 non-paired bolt rims, with a set of Goodyear MT on their way, and I was wondering what the ideal tire pressure would be once I go on about installing them on my M998
Keep in mind that I'll...
After a unhealthy amount of research here in Italy, I finally found somebody with a set of 24bolt rims
I'm now looking for a set of o-rings, searched for the original ones and they seem to be at around 20$ or more per piece
So if anyone has the actual sizes/numbers of the oring, I'd be very...
Looks like a damn problem to me, and in case you were wondering or not believing your eyes, yes, that is the rear righthand brake line getting grinded off by the CV shaft
I currently own a 1988 M998, 6.2L 3 speeds, the original deal, with some 36s and 8 bolt rims (I think I also have the original magnesium run flat ring in them)
From what I understood, those are the bias ply tires, better for heavy loads but worse for every day use
Then there are the 37s, which...
