Seeing my old post caught me by surprise. Yes it did fix the leak, no didn't need to pull the pump. The loss of prime was the flex supply hose to the pump, didn't leak fluid, but sucked air.
I sold the truck when moving to Idaho in mid 2017. I see a few 5 tons here in the treasure valley, sure...
Our M923A1 may have found out I'm going to sell it. Recently after a normal engine start, the voltage is low and rises into the red with rpm rise, then ABS light comes on. I shut it down and restart. Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 start cycles to have the voltage stabilize and everything work...
The stencil on the dash read MAX Speed 48 MPH, he was driving a 45 year old truck 400 miles, so I assumed a leisurely 45-50 mph. I don't know what speed he cruised he at. I couldn't imagine cruising at 60, but it was a good truck, always started within 1-2 seconds. I'll miss it, but not as much...
Well we are finally leaving Ca (resisted using some common nicknames) and put the deuce up for sale. A guy called me from Los Angeles area and wanted to come get it and drive it home - which is 400 miles at 45-48 mph. I told him he was nuts and that half you guys would agree and half would say...
My understanding is either register Historic or commercial (there is only one commercial). Read the rules on the CA DMV website for Historic and commercial registration. Commercial brings into play all smog rules, BIT, and much higher registration fees. Radius limits are due to the insurance...
Forgive me if I missed it, but I don't think you will be able to license a 1078 Historic if it's not 25 years old . Do some searching on Ca DMV rules for diesels, BIT Program, etc
The operation tech manual states nothing about the hinged lock on the winch for the clutch lever. Is that just to trick old guys like me, or am I missing something. Was quite embarrassing to try and operate the winch until watching a YouTube on the winch and seeing him flip that lock over.
I got the evil look when registering the 5 ton here in N Ca. You can register it Historic at $81.00 a year, but you can never haul anything and you are supposed to use for events only. You can register commercial, but make sure to look into all that is required (BIT program, smog, etc) in...
I drive the deuce - my arms hurt shifting and steering
I drive the 5 ton - my neck and back hurt from the ride
Smiling while driving either one -- have both
Having traveled to Boise,ID from near Sacramento 2-3 times a year, I noticed HEMTT vehicles on civilian flat beds on HWY 80 in N. Nevada mostly going east. However we passed one going west at Donner Summit last trip. Where are these rebuilt, or is there some other operation ?
Thanks
I tried the airless from HF and it didn't want to shoot Behr without thinning. So I used a pot with 6 ft hoses from HF and worked great. I had used it with the Rapco also -
Less stopping to fill, no angle worries.
I found doing the green first then brown and black worked fine. However, the later areas are better than the starting areas, so practice a lot. Will need two coats of each color and getting the gun set up right makes a big difference. No masking needed.
Yes they are heavy, we used to install them in boats. I had a marine electronics store and became a dealer for Trojan batteries. They gave us a 8D dummy with part of the side cut away to show construction for the show room display. It was on the floor with the cut away part against the wall and...
