    Passing of David Bryant

Hi guys and gals, this is Dave's (wdbtchr) son. I'm sorry to inform you all tof Dave's Passing August 13th of this year. I know he was a dedicated member of the site and was similarly dedicated to his family and friends. He will be missed and wanted to extend this information to all of you, whom...

    M-715 woods recovery

Any idea of it's history, how it wound up grown into a tree?

Want to upload manuals for 8606 Forklift

I believe that goes to the fuel linkage on the injector pump. You have to have air pressure around 40 psi to use the throttle.

Can you identify this unique truck?

I don't know why but that makes the hair on my neck stand up. I would love to know it's history.

Took the 5 ton on an ice cream run

Seems like a little overkill to pickup ice cream, but I like it!:goodjob:

Want to upload manuals for 8606 Forklift

To all of those that have messaged me about the DTC 8606 forklift, I'm sorry not ignoring you just enjoying two heart attacks and a stent. Unfortunately my computer is in about the same condition, just short of stroked out. I still have the copies on my hard drive, but my CD burner is dead and...

    Gear Oil for Braden Winch

I guess I would have been wrong because I would have said Ford Corn Head grease. I use it on everything exposed to weather or could harbor moisture from rain sneaking in around winch shafts and tractor axles. 2cents

    Strange Cab on M37

Way back in ancient times when I was in high school(think mid 60's) there was a local bubba mechanic adapted a 30 era pick-up cab onto a flat fender jeep. I don't know what kind as I wasn't oriented to ex-military jeeps back then. No doors just a top, but inspite of of having a double dash, he...

    Ok lets talk Gasoline

I will mention again that I "wash" my gasoline that I use in my older vehicles, tractors, and small engines. I haul my gas in 5 gallon army cans adding about a quart of water to the can first. Let the alcohol/water settle out and siphon it off. How much you get will depend on the alcohol %...

HVAC AC refrigerant recharge maintenance guidance needed

Accepting that I've been retired for 10 years from the HVAC business, I haven't heard of a direct drop in refrigerant for R22. What exactly are you planning to use? R410 is being used in new systems but at much higher pressures. As far as checking for leaks with vacuum, small leaks can suck...

What OEM 16" Wheels Will Properly Fit the M1009 (From Any Make or Model), If Any???

My '92 K1500 Blazer has six lug 16" wheels but I have no idea of the interchangeability with the earlier models.

    Bigger Under Hood Air filter?

How about a m39 series 5 ton mounted reversed on the fender? Would give you way more room under the hood to work.

    What is my M1008 Worth?

I don't have a pig in this race, but personally if I modified a truck the way I liked it then I would do just about anything to keep it. Getting it to where your being stationed would be the biggest problem but once there reasonable or free storage could be worked out. Just my 2cents, but...

this a 5 ton? (A: M51A2 with LDS multifuel engine)

The tipoff for me to tell the difference is the long gap between the front wheel and the back of the fender. Deuce is right there at the back of the fender. You can tell from far away.

    Torque rod/dogbone mod and removal

I got my wedges many years ago from a farm supply. Actually the wedges are fairly soft as they're designed to hit with a sledge hammer. They will squish over time and deform into a mushroom head, those need to be kept ground down because they WILL break off and get you.

Attempting to manufacture my own hard top from scratch.

That's what I was thinking originally, making it out of wood then fiber glassing over that like a boat hull, think Popular Mechanics circa the 60's. As an ex-carpenter I was more comfortable working in wood, hence my tag wdbtchr(woodbutcher). Hadn't figured out how to do the corners yet when I...

    What is it Worth?

Learn something everyday! I have to admit I don't have a large knowledge of jeeps, and this is the first time I came across the term "franklin jeep". Am I right in assuming this means a post-war civilian jeep?
