5T differential housings: cast or forged?

He (and others) have them mounted in both locations, front and rear. The logic is that when it's buried deep in the mud, it's better to extract low (where all the unsprung weight is at) to keep from ripping the body/frame off the suspension. -WRM

5T differential housings: cast or forged?

I've got a friend who build a mud truck out of a Dodge diesel and put 5T axles under it. He and others have welded recovery points (loops) to the differential housings. I was under the impression that these were cast, but he doesn't think so. Anybody know for sure? -WRM

25th ARIZONA MILITARY VEHICLE SHOW JANUARY 30-31, 2016

I'll be there...just wish my truck was ready. SO CLOSE... Anybody bringing a large, empty flat bed? :-P -WRM

    Show us your Military Trailers

I finally got around to adapting the wiring of the M1101 to the Jeep. I just swapped out the 4 bulbs for 12V units and changed the plug over to a 7 blade, and voilà! All the lights work; now I need to figure out a license plate bracket. I think I'll fab something that's detachable for the...

HanksDeuce: 8" Lift, Bobbed, External Cage, A/C and more Project!

I'm gonna need LOTS of strippers... Looks great so far Hank! What made you change your mind on the color? I thought the green / woodland would blend better in LA? Or maybe that's the idea, and you'd rather stick out a bit? -WRM

    M1101 hitch modification

I drop off my JK on the 12th to have a custom hitch made so I can pull my M1101; I'll post pics of it when I'm done. My Jeep is already on 37's, so hopefully it will match up well. -WRM

    WRMorrison's "just another bobber" thread

LOL...well, it's a little different out here in the desert. The weather has been good for a while now, I just couldn't spare the money until now. It's too hot in the summer out in here to be working outside (at least for me). If it's above 105°, I don't spend much time outside in the sun...

    WRMorrison's "just another bobber" thread

After a long hiatus, I'm back at it! Now that the weather is cool enough to work on it and the financial drain of the holidays are over, it's time to get busy. Here's a pile of power steering goodies that showed up yesterday from m-35tom: With any luck, I'll be out working on it this...

    M1101 hitch modification

I don't run a spare on the back; it's inside the Jeep with me (at least for now). At some point, I planned on running an ORF swing-away carrier though, so I'll keep that in mind. However, if the trailer and vehicle hitch line up ok (since I'm a bit taller than you), I shouldn't have to worry...

    M1101 hitch modification

Looks good. I'm picking up an M1101 to pull behind my 4-door JK as well. Hopefully, mine will be at least close to level since I'm lifted 2.5" and on 35's. I've also got to build a custom hitch for the Jeep due to my aftermarket bumper choice... -WRM
