OK I am starting to wonder/worry but figure i need some facts first. I know these are not the highest horse engines, but can you spin tire on dirt? on pavement? My 1008 I cant even spin tire from a dead stop on a dirt road....just wondering if there is something wrong...lol. I know its...

M1009, no vacuum from VRV, no 2-3 shift

#1 try to reverse the vacuum lines on the VRV, if you havent already. Then I would even check for vacuum to the VRV from the vacuum pump. When you have the lines off of it, you should have vacuum at one of them. If not trace it back to the vacuum pump, and replace the VP if everything else is...

    lift q for 33's

I am in the process of having my m1008 "restored" However I want a set of aluminum rims and a set of 33" tires that I purchased for another project. I read another thread and I saw the a member did a 4" lift for 35's so my question is, what do I need for 33's? It has 235 85 16's now, which...

    Trailer harness/-20 diagram question

I need to adapt a 7 prong trailer plug on my 1008. I have identified the green, yellow, black and brown wires. Just curious what the brown w/tracer and green w/tracer wires are. Unless im looking at the wrong part of the -20, It only lists the trailer function wires. Thanks

    Q on trailer hitch

never thought of that. My stepfather bought an 85 k20 for the plow and I yanked the hitch. Im running into an issue with the angle mounts behind the rear spring hangers.

    Q on trailer hitch

I recently pulled a Shelton hitch from a similar year k20. I read a few threads, and knew that it wasnt gonna be a direct bolt in. My problem is, it isnt even close. I basically cant get anything to line up. Are the 1 ton frames different than a 3/4 ton? I know the rear cross member is...

    rear main find

    - LOL, it wasnt until I started cleaning the pan up, that I realized they didnt use any pan gasket, just RTV, and that you could see where it was leaking right beside the rear rubber seal:roll: I replaced the rear main, and new pan gasket. No leaks...yet.

    rear main find

I am the 1st civi owner of my m1008, and shortly after bringing her home, I noticed an oil leak at the rear of the engine. Before digging in, I checked the site and saw that rear mains are common. Tonight I pulled the cap, only to find....a new style neoprene seal:| Sure enough I planned little...

    Need updated ALT/dummy light help

OK, My alts are now both charging, and after a trip to the local repair shop, some of this and some of that, he got the pass side Alt charging. He used a short jumper from the small red(in connector) to the brown beside it, and boom. So my question-which he couldnt answer is this. The brown...

M1008 alternator issues, and other stuff

Not too many people keep a 500 amp test stand handy, sorry that troubleshooting is pretty hard to duplicate because it was written as though we all have access to MIL tools and testers.

    How to excite Alt.

The mags might just do the trick:-D Well, IM not sure if that is totally the issue now. I ran a light inline(like a dummy light) But the light on the pass side never went out, and the drivers side never lit up. I drove for a while and the OEM dash gauge went to the point right between the...

    How to excite Alt.

OK, I swapped in a new cluster, just so I would have oil presssure, temp, and 2 volt gauges. Until this point everything works fine, but the CUCV dash guage wouldnt register into the green until I drove the truck for a mile or so. Now its nothing, about 1/2 way up the red on the oem gauge...

    How long to charge 24v?

ok, that makes sense. Because I have been going an extra even 1/2 mile, and its going into the green. My commute is really short, I mean really short, however it makes for a long walk when I have to carry gear(previous message got cut off) In the summer, I walk because i dont need much. So from...

    Great PA sent her back

I picked the vehicle up in NJ, but the SF97 has a Florida address.

    How long to charge 24v?

I drive short distance to work, however my volt gauge never goes into the green, and after a few starts it goes dead. HOWEVER, on a trip to the store after aprox, 1 mile or so, it goes from yellow to green and charges normally. Is there anyt I have to carry too much gear in the winter, so i...

    Great PA sent her back

I had all my papers sent back from Harrisburg saying that I needed a DR 123 from Florida, the state in which the sales tax was paid. I printed off a dr123 from FL, but its as if I was physically in FL, and has to be notarized as such. I never stepped foot in FL for the vehicle, so since they...

    Rear Main Q?

I read a few other threads about replacing my puked rear main. Can I drop the pan in the m1008, or do I have to raise the engine some to do this? Thanks

Hey im New and i have a question about buying M1008s

with GL(i take it your a 1st time buyer) you will have an extensive wait for your EUC to clear, and once cleared, make an appointment for removal, then submit for an sf-97(to title) and wait another 30+days. I won my m1008 a few months ago...I just put it on the road yesterday. If your hot in...
