Transmission fluid spurting out the vent tube

I don't believe it shudders when shifting up, but I am not entirely sure what you mean. It does have a somewhat rough shift, but no shuddering. It is simply hesitant to shift into the next higher gear -- it will only shift when the rpm get relatively high. It does not die or drag the engine...

Transmission fluid spurting out the vent tube

Hello, everyone. So my CUCV was not shifting well into the different gears. Specifically, it would take off fine in DRIVE or REVERSE but it would not easily change to the next higher gear when I built up speed. Also, it would not shift back down too well, either. Then, I got home with a...

    Starter not turning over

Joe, when you say "the 24V fuse in the fuse box", I am not seeing that in my fuse box or in the diagrams for the fuse box. I see a 28V 10A relay, and I see a couple of 20A fuses, but I do not see a 24V fuse. Can you help me out with that? I am attaching a pdf with the fuse box diagram. Which...

    Starter not turning over

Thanks for the replies. I've been out at Ocracoke and I just got back. I'll give it a whirl in the morning! Sure wish I had one of those with me down on the beach.

    Starter not turning over

Hey, everyone. So I have two CUCVs. One had a good starter. I took the "bad" starter off the CUCV that would not start, and I put in its place the "good" starter from the one that did start (but that appears to have an injector problem -- clackety clack!). So once I had the good starter in...

    M-1010 winner in Richmond?

It hasn't shown up yet on my closed watchlist. Its cache on google doesn't show the last bid, either, just that it closed at 5:13 pm. Someone put the last bid in at 4:58, which is funny.

    M-1010 winner in Richmond?

Hey, y'all, now that the auction is over, I think I am permitted to write about event 3973, lot 5870, a M1010 that GL mislisted as a "M1009 ambulance". I was up in Richmond on Tuesday, and I took a good look at this CUCV. She's a beauty. Since I had my M1009 with me, I also had my handy key...

    Door glass filler?

Hey, everyone. What are we talking about here? The channel or the sweep or the stuff that goes in the door jamb to keep things quiet inside? The felt that fits between the glass and the sash? I am lost here, but I do need some sweeps for my rear glass. I need both the inner and the outer...

What do the battery holders look like? and anyone selling?

you can get them at autozone over where the big black battery boxes are. they are made for batteries, and my autozone has them in two sizes -- 8" and 10". My recollection is that the M1009 uses the 10". I put black battery boxes in mine, and now I need 12" bolts.

Transmission and Transfer Case fluid capacity

rbuster, I also could not find it on their website when I made that post. I even searched by the product name. I had looked online before I went to the store, too. But it was available in my Raleigh store. You may want to call the store and they can look it up on the computer to see if it is...

More on Shotwell (the man, not the place).

    Need some creative thoughts...

I think an interesting topic would be Randolph Abbott Shotwell. Shotwell is often cited in Civil War history for his primary account of the Union's POW camps in and around Charlottesville, VA. By all accounts, conditions were an abomination. However, there is much more to Mr. Shotwell...

    Need some creative thoughts...

It could have been in Hay Fork that the group found the parachute, or it also could have been around Klamath. I really don't remember.

    Need some creative thoughts...

Very interesting. If you google search McGuffin, Humboldt and World War, you should find some research I did on this issue when I was in college. There actually were casualties. A church group was out in the Siskiyou National Forest, if I remember. One of the boys found one of the parachutes...

On my way to pick up my first CUCV

Where are you going to pick it up? Just as a bit of advice -- did GL say it starts and runs or it starts and runs with a jump? If the former, ok, no worries. If the latter, you may want to take two appropriately sized batteries with you so you can put them in, and you're not relegated to...
