Yep, I had the exact same problem. Checked all of my ground connections battery cables everything. Nothing helped. Finally made all new cables out of welding lead wire. Starts first time every time. Got to thinking later it kind of makes sense, after all those battery cables are all 30 years old...
M75 Moved Today
After three years of work our M75 rolled out of the shop for the first time today. Still lots of work to do but it sure was fun to see it move. Ours was out of the same original bunch as the one pictured, but had gone under water several times over the last 25 years.
M813rc,

halftrack,
Don't know that I have a good answere for you, other then that is how I found them when we dismantaled it. Don't know if this configuration is suppose to reduse the drag somehow or keep the rollers cleaner. This is the only one I've ever worked on so I have no comparison. I do know...
We repaired one in the condition you describe. They can be fully disassembled but it is a lot of work. They are roller bearings inside and as long as one of these have not been cut into it should be repairable. There should be a dust ring covering a felt dirt seal around the upper ring, remove...
I'm a little late with this, but been busy. My pump was doing exactly what you described. I took the so called sealed electrical fitting apart and found a slip together fitting that was about to fall apart. I soldered the two ends together, put the sealed outer fitting back together with JB weld...
