I do agree. I would not run your house from it during an outage.

If you want to convert the generator to single phase, you can use the attached manual to figure out the wiring changes needed. This would be in the generator housing. See pages 9 & 10. I would choose diagram G which gives you single phase 120v and single phase 240v. I believe stock setup is diagram C.

However, doing this will require some rewiring in the panel itself and will affect the air compressor as it is three phase. So you will need to use a single phase motor for the air compressor which shouldn't be too hard to source.

I've often thought about making these changes to my M1031. If I didn't have two MEP003 trailer mounted gensets, I would have done it by now.

On a side note, have you ever had to replace the PTO (mag) sensor in any of your '31s?

Muncie told me to use a distributor and sent me a list of them in FL.

Part number: 31T35108

If you ever need the mag pickup, you can email Muncie for distributors in your area.

I think I have a bad one, but am going to try swapping parts from another truck before I spend $80 on a new part.

My 1031 has been rewired to single phase, but the compressor motor wasn't swapped out when it was done. I've been wanting to tackle that project lately, but haven't had a chance to find a motor. Where do you think the best place to pick one up would be? Kaman? McMaster-Carr?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks!

I'm still new to the MV thing, but I really need to learn my way around those TMs. I'll poke around for a replacement and post up what I find.

Sorry for the semi-hijack, Doug :D
