Ahab - for outline of the pattern - 3M green thin line tape used - yellow tape is just for laying on top of the thin like to reduce thickness of paint - then green masking paper.

ANYHOW - Doc brought pics to Golden Corral this morning of how he first got it RAN BEFORE PARKED senario - just to show the progression of work that has been put into the rare M170. I took pictures of the pictures just to show the audience.
When you watch Iron Resurection on the Velocity Channel on tv - we love this **** in this condition.
Here ya go and grab a beer to review.20160903_091447_001.jpg20160903_091518.jpg20160903_091529.jpg20160903_091550.jpg20160903_091603.jpg20160903_091614.jpg20160903_091625.jpg20160903_125934.jpg

So the stencils are by self-adhesive transfer, or do do you paint "through" the templates?

I'm not picturing how those templates work (they look solid where the lettering is, so how do you get the paint "through" that to the surface?

Stencil is on transfer paper that tacks to the surface with lettering already cut out. Hand paint them because 1954 DID NOT have vinyl lettering that looked perfect. Then peel off the transfer paper after painting.

Seat frame .... more pic's to come but will not be posting measurements...I will although show the only thing I have to go by to get them done.
